We have upgraded our facility again with new shooting pads and installed one new Pat Trap this winter. We hope to see you after our opening day on March 4th. Stay warm! Inside this issue: Spring League Info 2 Election of Officers 2 The Owatonna Gun Club had another successful Summer League in 2016 as 46 teams participated and enjoyed the great targets and friendly atmosphere that the OGC is noted for. Kyle Wolfe led the way with a 295 X 300 score. He was followed by long time OGC shooter Myron Miller and Bob Newman of Alden with 294. Sam Bailey, Dale Otis and Pat Gottberg were next with 293. The Wolfes made it a clean sweep with Becky being the top women shooter this past summer. Pat s Gun Repair repeated as team champions in the actual score division with a score of 1450 out of 1500. Team members were Pat Gottberg, Jerry Chellgren, Dale Otis, Sam Bailey, and Tom Suter. Runner-up in the actual score standings was the No-Name Team #30 made up of Jim Lembke, Jay Nietzel, Suter, Bailey, and Newman. Harlan Campbell Clinic 3 Shooting prices 3 Spring League Rules 4-5 OGC to host ATA Central Zone in July; 20th annual Cabela s Shoot June 8th to the 11th The 2017 ATA schedule at the OGC will include two shoots, the 20th annual Cabela s Shoot and the ATA Central Zone. The Cabela s Shoot has been a mainstay of Minnesota registered shooting for years. Last year we were able to have four good days of weather and shooting for the first time since we expanded our shoot to four days. The ATA Central Zone will return to the OGC for the first time since 2014. The Zone Shoot is a telephonic shoot that is held concurrently at many locations within the Central Zone. We are unsure of all the other locations at this time, but one thing is certain, we will be a host site. The shoot will be held on July 28th to the 30th.

PAGE 2 WINTER NEWSLETTER VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 OGC sets Spring League starting date for March 4th The Owatonna Gun Club has set the opening of the 2017 Spring League for Saturday, March 4th, weather permitting. Get your shotgun back out and get ready to participate in the 2017 Spring League. Maybe you can get a team together for the Spring League and get a jump on your shooting year. Even though the weather has not been as horrendous as it was last winter, you can help cure some of that cabin fever by participating in the Spring League. We have set the opening day as a tentative date to give us the opportunity to judge the weather and allow us to make a decision based on snow depth and temperature. The answering machine at the club(451-4498) will be updated to give you current information regarding the exact opening date. A brief summary of the Spring League rules are as follows: until their dues are paid. 2. Individual memberships are due prior to shooting league targets in 2017. 3. The scoreboard will reflect your status as a paid member and a paid sponsor. Shooting prices will be $5.00 per round with an 11 round punch card selling for $50.00. Juniors shoot for $4.00. Sponsors fees will remain at $50 and individual memberships are $25. Life memberships are $250. We look forward to seeing you during the coming spring shooting season. Spring hours go into effect on March 4th. The club is open on Saturdays from 12:00 noon to 4:00 P.M. and on Sundays from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon through the end of April. Sunday, April 30th, is the date of our annual Spring Fling Shoot. There will be no league shooting on Sunday, April 30 th and only limited practice will be available due to the large turnout of shooters for the Spring Fling Shoot. The last day to post Spring League scores is Wednesday, May 10th, 2015. The Spring League banquet will be May 17th. 1. All teams must have their sponsor fees paid by April 8th. VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 WINTER NEWSLETTER PAGE 3 Shooting prices remain the same for the Spring league As a member/customer of the OGC you do enjoy the benefits of up to date and well maintained equipment in an effort to give you the best target presentation possible. We hope to continue to serve you in the future. Despite fluctuating prices for many shooting related items, we plan to keep our shooting prices the same for the 2017 Spring League as they have been for the past three years. We plan to reevaluate target and labor cost prior to our Summer League season. Currently we charge $5.00 for member shooting and if you buy a punch card, you get 11 rounds for the price of 10. Juniors shoot for $4.00. Our membership prices have been changed. An annual membership is now $25 and the cost of a life membership is now $250. We have been able to keep our shell prices the same for the coming year. Federal Top Gun and Rio shells will continue to be $7.00 per box. 20 gauge shells will sell for the same price. We hope that you will consider shooting at the Owatonna Gun Club during the 2017 shooting season. Please note that if there is a change in shooting prices, it will not occur until the start of Summer League in June. Camping Information for 2017 ATA Shoots Shooters who plan on camping at the OGC during the 2017 Cabela s Shoot or the ATA Central Zone should make reservations ASAP. Call 507-339-2309 (Kyle) or 507-383-1655 (Jay) if you are interested. We would like to hear from you if you might consider working for the OGC. Thanks!

VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 NEWS LETTER TITLE PAGE 5 Handicap System The Handicap system used will be the same as previous years (23 base). The highest score an individual can earn with handicap will be 24. In order to receive a 25, the targets must be broken. Penalties A significant penalty occurs when one or more shooters do not complete their targets. Teams will be eliminated from Trophy contention when one or more shooters do not complete the required 200 team targets by May 10 th. The club reserves the right to withhold a banquet ticket from those shooters who do not complete target requirements. Trophies Winners of both individual and team trophies will be determined by the total score on 200 targets.. Trophies will be awarded to both high actual and high handicap teams. The number of team trophies will depend on the total number of entries in the program. Trophies to individual shooters will be awarded based on high actual score for the 200 targets. An individual or team may only shoot for one trophy. Shoot-offs will occur only if there are ties after the total 200 targets, both on a team or individual basis. One shoot-off per individual, regardless of the number of teams participated on. Credit Cards As many of you know the Owatonna Gun Club has been accepting credit cards for shooting cost and shells for the past year. We initially did this on an experimental basis to see if this was a service that would work well for shooters and the OGC. The answer is a resounding: Yes! Shooters have expressed a very positive response to this service and the OGC will continue to offer it in 2017. We hope that those of you who use a credit card find this service convenient. Bob Newmann, tied for 2nd in the 2016 Summer
