CMS Ski Club Dear Parents / Guardians and Students: Welcome to the 2016-2017 Ski Club season! In this packet you will find IMPORTANT information all interested students should be aware of regarding the Ski Club season. Please review this packet with your child and return all necessary forms NO LATER than Friday, November 18th. About Ski Club Ski Club is open to beginners as well as experienced skiers / snowboarders. ALL students, regardless of experience, are required to take a lesson each time we visit Shawnee Ski Mountain. Payment For the fifth year in a row, we are having students submit two forms of payment. The Ski package will be paid online while the bus payment will be in the form of a separate check at a later date. Please read the packet carefully for pricing details. TWO PAYMENTS: Ski Package ONLINE CREDIT CARD payment due by Friday, November 18. We will be paying for the Ski package separately this year using Shawnee s online program. DIRECTIONS are attached to this packet; you must pay for the package following the guidelines; only credit cards may be used and you must PRINT the confirmation email. Ski / Snowboard lesson / Lift $155.00 Ski / Snowboard lesson / Lift / Rental $195.00 (w/ rentals) Bus Payment CHECK Payment Bus payment is dependent on the number of students who join Ski Club. (Usually, the price is anywhere around $135 - $150 total for 6 trips.) Once the Ski payments are made, a notice will be sent out with the bus cost for students (checks only). Due Dates: Please PRINT a confirmation email of the Ski payment, and place that and a signed contract in an envelope with your child s name and grade on the front. Bring this envelope directly to Mr. Gillespie in room 613 by Friday, November 18th. Do NOT place confirmation emails or envelopes in anyone s mailbox, in the Guidance, or Main Office! Note: This club has limited membership to the first 60 students. In order to gain membership, students must bring in the appropriate payments / forms on the due date. It will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Ski Club Times / Locations / Agenda Shawnee Mountain Ski Area 401 Hallow Road East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 Dates: Monday 1/3 (Tues.), 1/9, 1/17 (Tues.), 1/23, 1/30, 2/6 Note: There will be a link on the CMS homepage with updates of any rescheduled trips the night before. There are two trips that will be held on a Tuesday, since there is no school on that Monday. DEPARTURE / ARRIVAL Leaving CMS: 3:00 PM Returning to CMS: 9:15-9:30 PM Students must be on board the buses by 8:15 PM. We depart the ski area by 8:30 PM. Telephones will not be available to students upon return to the school. PARENTS, PLEASE BE ON TIME. Pick up will be in the front of the school (Route 46 side). AGENDA: Arrive at Shawnee Mountain: 4:00 *Unpack, get dressed, and obtain equipment in locker rooms. *Bring quarters / dollars for lockers. Ski / Snowboard lessons: 4:30-5:45 Dinner in the Lodge: *STUDENTS MUST CHECK IN WITH A CHAPERONE FOR DINNER. *Students can bring their own dinner or purchase food in the cafeteria. Free Ski / Snowboard 6:30-7:45 *Students must be with a CMS buddy AT ALL TIMES. Return to bus for departure: 8:15 *Return to lockers, gather belongings, be ON THE BUS by 8:15 PM II. IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS 1. We require all students to take a lesson. All skiers and snowboarders must wear helmets. No exceptions. All snowboarders must also wear wrist guards. Any member who does not have the appropriate safety equipment will not be allowed to participate in the Ski Club. 2. SAFETY HELMETS ARE AVAILABLE FOR SALE AT LOCAL SKI SHOPS AND ONLINE AT THE SHAWNEE MOUNTAIN WEBSITE. Snowboarders: Must have wrist guards and helmet. Skiers: Must have a helmet.

SHAWNEE RESPONSIBILITY CODE ALL renters will be fully responsible for restitution should their equipment be lost, stolen, or damaged when within their possession. Always stay in control and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above. Whenever starting downhill or are merging onto a trail, look uphill and yield to others. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off all closed trails and out of closed areas. Prior to using any lift, you have to have knowledge and ability to load, ride, and unload safely. III. DISTRICT *CMS SKI CLUB PROCEDURES AND RULES Students must be in school on the day of the trip in order to participate. Students are expected to be in school the day following a trip. Students must attend 4/5 Ski / Snowboarding lessons to be eligible for the Bonus Trip (6th trip). Students are responsible for all homework and it is suggested that students do their homework on the bus ride to the ski area. Students will be assigned bus seats and will remain in those seats for all trips. Any student excused from participating in physical education may not participate in a trip. Any inappropriate behavior while on the bus or at the mountain will result in disciplinary action. Students may lose the privilege of the Bonus Trip and / or a scheduled trip and he / she may also face possible permanent removal from the club. Students are expected to be with a partner on the slopes and trails appropriate to their ability. Punctuality in arrival at the bus and departure from the parking area at the end of the evening is expected. Cafeteria services are available at the lodge. Bagged dinners are a good alternative. Snacks on the bus are a privilege. Students are required to keep the bus clean. PLEASE, NO GLASS BOTTLES AT ANY TIME. IV. PERMISSION SLIPS AND PAYMENT Signed and completed permission slips assure that parents and students understand and accept all rules. Participation will be on a first come, first serve basis. Incomplete forms will be pushed to the end of the list. Members are entitled to only one voucher for missed trips due to a school absence. Return transportation for any student who is unable to return by bus must be arranged for and / or provided by the child s parent / guardian. V.
