Can t wait to see you there! Registration packets for 6 th, 7 th and 8 th Grade Tennis are now available online and in the MS Office. Registration packets must be received in the office by Monday, October 16. Students must have a physical on file in order to participate and the registration fee is $20.00. Wednesday, October 11 th is Senior Service Day at DCC! It is our DCC tradition to do a Senior Fall Service Project. Your amazing seniors have chosen to work on two projects this day. THE PROJECTS: Project #1 Sand and stain our picnic benches Clear coat the picnic benches that will be painted by Antelope Trails 5 th Graders next week Clear coat the Spray the Love fence that hangs in the plaza Clear coat the outside pianos Project #2 Day 1 (Start October 11 and will complete on October 28 Trick or Treat Street/Haunted Theatre) Plan DCC Trick or Treat Street doors Start (and maybe finish) the decorations for the doors Start collecting candy to be passed out for Halloween! Project 2.2 (Haunted Theatre) Open to Senior Thespians in good standing will meet with Ms. Keating on the 11 th to plan! Project #2 - Day #2 (Trick or Treat Street & Haunted Theatre will conclude on Saturday, October 28 th ) Complete and hang decorations beginning at 3 pm (Haunted Theatre will start earlier) Dinner will be provided Dress up and give out candy from 5-7 pm Clean up after

OCTOBER 11- SENIOR SERVICE DAY Attendance today is required like any other school day. It is important to give back to our school and community and I know the other students will be grateful. In case you didn t recall, seniors get out about two weeks before the rest of the school. WE COUNT ATTENDANCE EVERY DAY to make that happen and so if you do not show up on October 11, DCC/D20 will have you make it up at the end of the year and just keep you in school longer. Breakfast will be provided beginning at 8:00 am Wear clothes that you don t care about (just in case) If your TT or club/organization hasn t already decided, choose what activity you want to do Paint or decorate J 11:30 break for lunch 12:10 period 1 begins Afternoon classes: 12:10-12:45 period 1 1:30-2:05 period 3 12:50-1:25 period 2 2:10-2:45 period 4 NHS Induction Ceremony for new members will be held on October 9, at 5:30 pm in the high school theater. DCC RAD will meet on Tuesday mornings at 7:00 am in room 470. Come plan activities for DCC and Friday Nights at the Tri-Lakes YMCA. Students - Please remember that students should not be in the hallways or Art Bridge during lunch. Students may be in the Commons or outside. Please help keep the hallways clear and quiet for classes that are going on during lunch. Thank you! Assessment News: Special Schedule Wednesday, October 11 th is a college and career day at DCC. All students should arrive at 7:45 am. Please make every effort to be on time as you may not be admitted if you are late to a test! Below are the activities that are scheduled: Freshmen ICAP activities and a guest speaker All freshmen report to the theater at 7:45 am. Sophomores Practice PSAT 10 test. Testing rooms will be posted in the hallways. Sophomores will test on the fourth floor individuals and societies and language acquisition rooms. Please bring a calculator as none will be provided. Additionally, if you have a smart phone, please download the self-scoring app. Go to the app store, do a search on College Board SAT Practice. It is a free app, press get. Juniors Those who signed up for the PSAT NMSQT test should meet on the 5 th floor math hall. Bring an approved calculator, as none will be provided. Those juniors who did not sign up for the PSAT NMSQT will be the ASVAB, also on the 5 th floor. Bring your calculator. Seniors Senior Service Project and other activities. Meet in the commons for breakfast.

Please ask your student to see them. College & Career News: 9 th Grade Career Day: October 11 at DCC. Freshmen students will engage in a career panel and discussion with professionals in our community, complete career interest profiles, and update their 4-year course plans. This is a mandatory event for all 9 th grade students. Academy District 20 Concurrent Enrollment & ICAP Parent Academy: October 10 from 6:00 7:00 pm at the District 20 Admin Building (EAC). Attention Juniors - Internship National Security Agency to NORAD: Interested in an internship during your Senior year? The National Security Agency to NORAD is seeking highly qualified students. Must apply by October 31 of your junior year. Work would start September of your senior year if selected and must be able to report to the internship by 12:30 pm. This is a paid position. Apply at www.nsa.gov and follow the Student Programs link. Academy District 20 College Fair: October 24 from 6:00 7:30 pm. Location, Chapel Hills Mall lower level across from Dick s. Visit with in-state and out-ofstate University reps and service academies. Voice of Democracy Scholarship & Competition: American History Our Hope for the Future. Open to students 9-12 th grade, deadline is October 31. Please stop by the College & Career Center for additional information.
