They did a terrific job and deserve all of our thanks for a super job. Also a huge THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who helped in so many different ways and for all the ones who supplied us with the wonderful & delicious pies. And, of course, I can t forget the residents who came and ate with us over the 3 days. As of this writing I don t have the final figures but will have them by the Monday morning meeting so will let you know all the details then. Once again thank you. As I have stated the last couple of years I am ready to pass this job off to someone else. This makes the 6th year of doing it and I am ready to pass the file to someone else. As the saying goes THE OLD GRAY MARE AIN T WHAT SHE USED TO BE and it is time for some younger blood behind the helm. For the Christmas Spirit this year we will be doing something special on December 4th. All ladies wishing to join in are welcome. Even if you do not want to participate, come watch the fun. Everyone to bring a pair of Christmas socks stuffed with approximately $5.00 worth of goodies. We will then play a game to determine who gets what. THAT S ENTERTAINMENT!!! JEFF GORDON Jukebox Hits, Christmas, Variety December 6, Thursday, 7:00 P.M. Jeff Gordon will present his musical show on December 6, Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. in the Village Hall. He is a singer, impersonator and entertainer having an extensive repertoire of songs. You may hear the music of Conway Twitty, Neil Diamond, Elvis, Garth Brooks, Dean Martin, or George Jones, plus some of your favorite holiday and Christmas songs. Jeff have been singing and entertaining since he was a teenager. With decades of experience, he knows all the fan favorites. Tickets are $8.00 each, and are available at the Social Club meetings on Monday mornings. During the week, contact Dick/Gayle at 3026 Sonora Drive (956-969-3558). Entertainment is open to the public - tickets are available at the door. Invite your friends to join you for a great show. Doors open at 6:00 P.M. Popcorn, ice cream bars and soft drinks are available. There will be a 50/25/25 drawing and door prizes. See you there! Gayle Mead It s Christmas Toys 4 Tots time again! The Marines are coming!! Saturday, December 8th will be our annual Potato Bake. Along with all the toppers for the potatoes will be shredded beef, rolls, salad and gingerbread. The cost is still the original $5.00 pp as the real purpose of this event is giving to the Valley children who have so little. The Marines will be here to accept new unwrapped toys-ages newborn thru teens as well as monetary donations. All donations stay in our Rio Grande Valley. Any late toys or over-flow will go to the fire and police stations for children in turmoil. For your entertainment, the Marine Military Academy Silent Drill Team will be with us again. Social hour will begin at 5:30 pm, dinner at 6:00 p.m. Drill team will perform after. Sign up sheets for table set-ups, preparation, serving and very important clean-up will be around Monday. Leslie has been voted Valley Star Female Vocalist of the year for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 and Entertainer of the Year for 2014, 2015 and 2016 awarded by the Winter Texan Times and given the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Winter Texans in the Rio Grande Valley and RV Resorts. Social Hour will be at 12:30 and we will eat at 1:00. Please bring $1.00 per person to help pay for the Turkeys. A sign up sheet is on the bulletin board by the Kitchen. Please sign only one person per line and put what you are bringing and your phone number. So if it is Mr. and Mrs. It would take two line. There is a limit of only 16 people per table. Each person is to bring a dish to pass. Each table is responsible for decorating their table, and when the meal is finished you are responsible for washing and putting away your tables. Thank you, Cindy Duffy New Year s Eve Dance It s December and the countdown is on for this year s New Year s Eve celebration. Tickets are on sale starting December 3 so make plans to attend this great celebration. Mario will be the entertainer, with a wide variety of styles of music. Tickets are $12 a person. There will be open seating, but you can come early to reserve the table you want. We have added some new things to this year s party, including a table decorating contest, a dessert bar, table decorating contest, and a photo fun zone. You can buy your tickets at the Monday meeting or contact Mike or Kathy Moyna at 3134 San Jacinto or call us at 956-802-7123. We are in need of volunteers to help with this year s New Years Eve Dance. The more people we have, the less time each person will need to work. We appreciate anything you can give whether it s a bottle of wine or alcohol, a gift card, or homemade treats. CORPORATE BOARD NEWS There will be 2 open Corporate Board Meetings one on December 17th and the other on January 7th. Thanks for your help. The Corporate Board The Hut's Annual Christmas Sale will be next Saturday the 8th of December from 8am to 11 am. We will be having the annual Bake Sale along with the Christmas Items. We asking anyone that would like to contribute baked goods to please bring them to the Mens Club at 7:30 Saturday morning. IMPORTANT NEWS FROM THE CORPORATE BOARD Siesta Village Office cannot accept Canadian Checks Effective immediately, the Siesta Village office will not be able to accept Canadian checks for payment of any association or shareholder fees or other services fees. Up to this point, Compass Bank has been handling Canadian checks for us without charging any service fees or exchange rate fees. They will no longer be doing this for us. Acceptable payment methods for any money due to our village will need to be: 1. Cash payments 2. Money orders 3. A check written using a US bank with a US routing number for the bank. It cannot be a Canadian bank with US dollars in the bank(we would still have service charges for this type of account). We realize this is short notice but Compass Bank just started passing these charges on to us. If you have any questions, please contact me. TREASURE HUT NEWS Treasure Hut Hours have changed they now are: Mondays 10:00 to Noon, Wednesdays 8:00 to 11:00, and the Second Saturday of the month 8:00 to 11:00. Thank you for your contributions and remember we take clean, working items. We Do Not take old TV( we do take working flat screens), computers, printers. Please check with the Hut if you have any questions. We still have crutches, walkers, bath chairs, potty chairs, wheel chairs and canes that can be checked out and returned. WOMEN S GOLF Tuesday, November 27 th began as a cold morning. It changed quickly into a nice golf day with lots of sunshine. We had a grand total of 2 women show up for golf, Judy Beggs and Jean Karaba. We competed for lowest score and were fairly even throughout the game until # 9. One of us had a chip in leaving the other golfer in the dust. Fellow league golfers, who do you think has dust on her face; Judy or Jean? Regards, Jean Karaba
