The Senators took the series opener 5-2, after Neftali Soto broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run home run in the eighth inning. The Senators have now won five of their last seven games, while the Squirrels have lost seven straight. The Senators took two of three against the Squirrels in their only prior matchup, which came on the previous road trip. HIGH ATTENDANCE MARK The series opener between the Squirrels and Senators had an attendance of 6,573 fans, the highest attended game at FNB Field this season. The previous high was 5,071 fans on May 18 against Bowie. SOTO STREAKING Neftali Soto finished 2-4, extending his hitting streak to 13 games, the longest streak of the Senators season. The Manati, Puerto Rico native has recorded at least a hit in 18 of his past 19 games and 35 of the 40 games he s played. The streak is tied for the second longest hitting streak in the Eastern League this season. SUERO SAVES Reliever Wander Suero notched his eighth save Friday night, tying him for second most in the Eastern League. The right-hander has allowed just one run and struck out 16 over his past 15 innings, which spans his last 12 appearances. ROAD WARRIORS With the win on Wednesday, the Senators finished their first winning road trip of the season at 4-2, and capped off a stretch where they have played 11 of 14 games away from FNB Field. Beginning Friday night, the Senators enter a stretch where 13 of the next 16 games are at home. JOSE! JOSE! JOSE! JOSE! Jose Marmolejos finished 2-4 in the series opener meaning he is now 11 for his past 17 after going 9-13 in the Erie series with two home runs and seven RBI. On Monday night, the 24-yearold drove in five RBI, a new Senators season high, and he tied a Senators season high with five hits. Marmolejos is hitting.420 since being added to the Senators roster, and has recorded a hit in 11 of the 12 games he s played. TONIGHT S STARTING PITCHERS Jaron Long starts game two for the Senators. The right-hander is 4-4 with a 2.79 ERA this season, the fourth lowest mark in the Eastern League. Long s last start came against Richmond, and he limited the Squirrels to just one run over his seven innings en route to the Senators 8-1 victory. The 25-year-old has not allowed more than one earned run in five of his nine starts, and has allowed more than two earned runs just twice this season. Long is opposed by Squirrels starter Jordan Johnson. The right-hander is 2-3 with a 3.10 ERA across six starts and eight appearances overall. Johnson started opposite Long in his last start, and surrendered six runs in six and a third innings. The Elk Grove, California native has lasted at least six innings in each of his previous six starts. Johnson is in his first season with Richmond after spending the entire 2016 year with Single-A San Jose.
