The programme teaches children how to swim and enjoy water safely, whether in shallow or deeper water. Need to be stage 6 swimmer or above. WATERSPORTS AND OUTDOOR ADVENTURE Helly Hansen Watersports Centre Children can try their hand at something new this summer! The Helly Hansen Watersports Centre is hosting a number of adventurous activities that can help them gain a recognised qualification and certificate of achievement. Adventure week Adventurers will get to spend 3 days trying out a wide range of activities here at Salford Quays including most of our watersports and maybe a spot of climbing. They will then spend 2 days doing activities off site, going on a real adventure such as a long canoe trip and possibly some outdoor rock climbing on real rock. Running weekly from: Monday 25 July to Friday 19 August Excludes weekends and bank holidays 9.30am - 4.30pm / 10-16 years / 190pw All transport for off site trips included. Aqua activity These courses are all about fun and provide a taster of all different watersports which may include kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing or raft building. Running weekly from: Monday 25 July to Friday 26 August Excludes weekends and bank holidays 9.30am - 12.30pm / 8-12 years / 70pw 1.30pm - 4.30pm / 8-12 years / 70pw Learn to wakeboard A great way for young people to learn the basics of wakeboarding, in a safe environment, following the On The Edge scheme. Running weekly from: Monday 25 July to Friday 26 August Excludes weekends and bank holidays 9.30am - 12.30pm / 8-16 years / 80pw If you want to book your child in for a full day, we provide a supervised lunch, please mention at time of booking. Windsurfing RYA stage 1 By the end of this introductory course children will have a basic understanding of how a windsurf works and how it steers. RYA sailing stage 1 The complete introduction to dinghy sailing. By the end of the course, students will have a basic understanding of how a boat sails, and some experience of steering. Monday 25 to Friday 29 July RYA sailing stage 2 This is the next stage in the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme, you must have stage 1. By the end of the course, students will have a range of sailing skills and background knowledge. Monday 22 to Friday 26 August RYA sailing stage 3 On completion of stage 3 students will be able to sail in any direction and rig and launch your boat. You will have good skills, and knowledge. Monday 22 to Friday 26 August All dates need to be attended to gain qualification. All courses are delivered by NGB qualified instructors and all clothing and specialist equipment will be provided. Paddle sports This course covers Level 2-5 of the Paddle Power scheme. You will have loads of fun working through the course with your instructor. By the end of the course students should have the confidence and skills to be able to paddle in a straight line.
