2 AQUATICS Staff in the Spotlight Karen Meet Karen, our new Aquatic Coordinator. She has been with the City of Whitehorse for two and a half years and comes to the City with much leadership and aquatic training. You may recognize her from teaching Aquafit and swim lessons and even out in the community singing with various choirs. Being active herself, Karen loves seeing a healthy community and engaging with the public at work and around the community. She is always welcoming and loves to hear any feedback make sure to say hi! Instructors in Training Are an integral part of our staff growth and are closely monitored by experienced staff to ensure the highest quality of programming and safety. Parented Preschool Minnows Ages 4 months 48 months This age-based swimming program allows a caregiver and child to actively participate in a fun and interactive environment. Caregiver must remain in the water with child at all times. Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper. One child per caregiver, and one caregiver per child. 3 Preschool Ducklings Ages 3 6 years Prerequisite: Children must be 3 years old before the first day of lessons. This six-step developmental preschool program offers a fun way to learn swimming skills. Caregiver Presence During swimming lessons for children ages 3-6 years please have a parent or guardian available in the viewing area for any support needed. Puddle Jumpers Children learn to blow bubbles and to perform assisted floats and glides through songs and games. Lifeguard Club is designed for kids to participate in activities similar to real lifeguards. Team Chadburn Ages 8 10 years Learn basic lifesaving skills, and how to help others while keeping yourself safe around water.
