Schedule of Races.. scheduled for 0855 on Friday, April 1st AMENDMENT #2 : 10.1 Shortened Course Finish at John s Pass (JP) Entrance Mark 10.3 Skippers will take GPS Finish Time at John s Pass. Call in times to Beth Pennington at 727-580-5431, once you are docked at SPYC@PAG. The Organizing Authority is the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and Dunedin Boat Club 1. Rules The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. In accordance with the WFPHRF Rules this shall be a Category 4 event. 2. Notices to Competitors Notices to competitors will be posted on the Dunedin Boat Club Website Racing page. 3. Changes to the Sailing Instructions http://www.dunedinboatclub.org Any changes to the sailing instructions will be posted before 1830, prior to the beginning of the skippers meeting, on the day before it will take effect. 4.Signals Made Ashore Signals made ashore will be displayed from the flag staff at Dunedin Boat Club. If a postponement is signaled ashore, the warning signal will be made not less than 1 hour after flag AP is lowered. The AP flag, if flown will be repeated on the racing page of the dunedinboatclub.org website. This changes Race Signal AP. 5.Schedule of Races One distance race is planned, with the first Warning Signal scheduled for 0855 on Saturday, March 26th. The class flag(s) are : All Classes Code flag numeral 3 7. Courses and Marks 7.1. Attachment A shows the course, the order in which marks are to be passed, and the side on which each mark is to be left. 7.2. Latitudes and longitudes are approximate. Any errors shall not be grounds for redress, changing RRS 62.1(a). 8. Checking In 8.1. Before the start of the first race, each boat shall check in with the signal boat by sailing by the stern of the race committee boat on starboard tack and hailing the sail number. Only the race committee may protest a boat under this rule. 9.The Start 9.1. The starting line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the race committee signal boat and the course side of the round orange starting mark. 9.2 Afloat. If the Race Committee feels that the wind is not sufficient and in order to save the race of the day, the International Code Flag L will be hoisted as the Follow me signal and all the boats shall follow the R.C. boat along the course to a new place of start, for a shortened course. Instructions will be given on the VHF 72. If a mark of the course is passed under this section, it is no longer a mark of the course. 9.3. A boat starting later than 15 minutes after her starting signal will be scored DNS without a hearing, changing rule A4. 10.The Finish 10.1. Shortened Course. Finish at John s Pass (JP) Entrance Mark The finish line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the race committee finish boat and the course side of Pass-a-Grille Entrance Mark, North Channel, MO (A) 16 ft 5m PG. 10.2. All boats are requested to hail the Finish Race Committee boat Baby Doll, a white hull, Cruiser on channel VHF 72 (or phone George Pennington 727-580-5431) approximately 15 minutes before finishing. page 2
10.3. Skippers should record her own finish time when John s Pass Entrance Mark, Mo (A) 16 ft 6M JP bears 270 degrees AND less than 200 feet in distance. A boat must record her finish time using GPS time. If a GPS is not available then the skipper or representative should provide the watch used to the race committee for verification of accuracy. She should report her finishing time, and her position in relation to nearby boats, to the race committee at the first reasonable opportunity. Call in times to Beth Pennington at 727-580-5431, once you are docked at SPYC@PAG. 11. Time Limit The time limit for boats to finish is 1730. Any boat(s) not finishing by that time will be scored DNF. 12. Protests 12.1 Boats intending to protest shall notify the finishing committee by approaching the committee from the eastern side of the boat with headsail down and providing the name and sail number of the boat and the same information for the boat(s) being protested. 12.2 Protests must be written and delivered to Dunedin Boat Club, or emailed to paulrauman@gmail.com, no later than 1700 on March 28th, 2016. 12.3 Protest notices will be posted on the Dunedin Boat Club web site. Location and Time to be determined, if needed. 13. Scoring 13.1 Corrected times will be based on the WFPHRF handicap systems: Off Wind Course (OWC) Rating will be used for all Classes. 14. Safety 14.1 Any boat retiring from the race shall contact the Race Committee on VHF Channel 72. 15. Radio Communications Boats shall have a VHF radio capable of receiving transmissions on channel 72. 16. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the series entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The Organizing Authority(s) will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the event. page 4
