Horse Show Rules 1. Age is determined as of January 1 of the current year. 2. New York State Law mandates that exhibitors ages 17 and under wear an ASTM approved helmet. It is recommended that all competitors wear an ASTM approved helmet. 3. The Altamont Fair will not be responsible for injury or damage to any animal, person or property of the exhibitor, spectator, groom, attendant or any employee and the exhibitor, spectator, groom, attendant or any employee shall hold the Horse Show Committee harmless and indemnify it against any legal proceedings arising from accident or injury. 4. In case of any horse or contestant being disqualified the winner of the next succeeding prize in the lot shall take the prize that has been awarded to the disqualified horse or rider. The Show Superintendent s decision regarding any question or problem regarding show shall be final. 5. All exhibitors must complete a separate entry form for each horse/exhibitor combination. (Example: If there are 5 exhibitors you must complete 5 entry forms.) Complete name and address of each exhibitor must accompany all entries. 6. Unless otherwise stated there are NO REFUNDS. 7. Exhibitor numbers will be provided at the show grounds and must be worn in all lots. 8. The right is reserved to postpone the show for any cause, if found advisable. 9. No person will be allowed in the ring during lots except judges and those of the show committee having duties there. 10. The Committee reserves to itself the right to decline to receive any entry and to return any entry fees before or during the show without being liable for compensation. 11. The show may omit any lot if it considers it necessary due to insufficient entries (in which case the entry fee will be returned) and reserves the right to divide any lots and give two sets of ribbons or combine any lots and give one set and to add any additional lots. The show may accept post entries in all lots 2 lots prior to calling Lot. 12. Should any question or dispute arise not provided for in the preceding rules, the same shall be referred to the Committee, whose decision shall be final. 13. Section 351.9: On or after July 1, 1973 no horse or other member of the family equidae six months or more of age shall be admitted to or permitted to be present on the premises where an agricultural fair or the New York State Fair is held during the period of such fair unless the owner or custodian of the horse has filed with the Secretary of the fair a certificate or statement showing that the horse or other member of the family equidae has been negative to an agar gel immunodiffusion test for Equine Infectious Anemia (Swamp Fever) during the calendar year in which the fair is held or during the preceding calendar year. The agar gel immunodiffusion test must have been conducted by a laboratory approved for the purpose by the United States Department of Agriculture and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. a. Equine Infectious Anemia Test (EIA/Coggins) - A valid EIA chart documenting that the animal has been tested (any USDA approved test) within the current or previous calendar year (2015 or 2016 for this fair season) and found to be negative for EIA infection, is required of all equines 6 months of age or older. The animal identification noted on all accompanying documents must match the description on the official EIA chart. b. Rabies vaccination - Proof of active immunization against rabies is required. 14. Each exhibitor will supply his/her own feed and bedding. 15. Premium awards will be mailed to exhibitors. 16. All riders entering WALK/TROT/JOG lots may NOT have cantered at any competition or exhibition and may not enter any other lots except for showmanship and halter. 17. All lot entries will close two lots prior. 18. Starter horse must not have shown at a canter/lope. 19. Lead Line lots are for ages 8 and under. 20. Discipline Rail Lot is run like command except no exhibitors are pulled in to the center of the ring and the lot is scored by judge only. 21. EXHIBITORS AND SPECTATORS ARE PROHIBITED FROM BRINGING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ONTO THE FAIRGROUNDS. ANYONE IN VIOLATION OF THIS MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE, FORFEIT THEIR PREMIUMS AND/OR MAY BE REFUSED FUTURE PARTICIPATION IN THE FAIR. STALL RESERVATIONS EXHIBITORS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY NOTE: FRIDAY STALL RESERVATIONS ARE NO LONGER FREE OF CHARGE. A $15.00 FEE IS CHARGED FOR ANY PART OF ANY DAY OF STALL RESERVATION DURING THE FAIR. 1. Reservations for horse stalls and tack stalls must be made in advance to Sue Osta at 396-6611 or Lynne Baldauf 518-469- 0257. Tack stalls must be rented for the entire 6 days at $90 for the week. All stall reservations will now be assigned, subject to availability, based on the order in which the calls are received in accordance with the deadline listed below. There will be no exceptions. (Do not assume that you will automatically have a stall this year if you had one last year.) All checks must be

mailed to Lynne Baldauf at 429 Helderberg Trail, E. Berne, NY 12059 2. The rental rate for all stalls is $15 per day (or any part thereof) per horse. Full payment must be received by Lynne Baldauf at the address listed above on or before JULY 31, 2016. If payment has not been received by the deadline, or an approved.alternate date for submission of payment has not been met, your reservation will be cancelled, and the stall will be given to the next person on the waiting list. 3. Payment must be in cash or check only. Make checks payable to the Altamont Fair. You will not be able to occupy a stall unless a stall number has been assigned. 4. There will be a $5 per horse per day grounds fee for all horses that have not reserved a stall. This money will be collected by the show secretary along with entry fees. 5. All stall renters are required to clean out their stalls. Please move the manure and bedding to directly in front of the stall to allow for easier pick-up by Fair staff. Premium checks will be held if stalls are not cleaned-out by the stall renter and a reservation will not be accepted for next year. 6. Animal pens other than horse stalls must be requested through each department s superintendent. The superintendent has the sole right to assign pens. 7. HORSE TRAILERS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS FOR LOADING/UNLOADING ONLY. IF YOU MUST WORK FROM YOUR TRAILER (only if a stall has not been assigned) A DESIGNATED AREA ON THE TRACK WILL BE AFFORDED TO YOU VIA ESCORT. UPON LEAVING YOU MUST NOTIFY THE ANNOUNCER S BOOTH TO ARRANGE AN ESCORT OFF THE GROUNDS. PLEASE BE SURE TO USE THE SPECIAL ALTAMONT FAIR HORSE SHOW ENTRY FORM ATTACHED ATTENTION HORSE AND PONY EXHIBITORS: Mounted horses will not be allowed in any walkway. To move your horse from its stall to the show area you must lead your horse to the track area and mount after you have entered the area designated for horses and horse exhibitors.
