Project Update #2 Cedar Springs Road Minor Reconstruction and Culvert Replacement (Britannia Road to Kilbride St) Contract No. CW 18-16 File 570.02-867 The City of Burlington has awarded the above-mentioned project to Fermar Paving Limited. The construction includes: Cedar Springs Road Removal and replacement of existing asphalt roadway, with some minor reconstruction work in select areas. Installation of new guiderails. Removal of existing 1000mm diameter culvert structure and installation of new 1600mm diameter culvert structure. Widening of the existing roadway with 1.5m paved shoulders on both sides of Cedar Springs Road. Construction activity will commence the week of June 11, 2018 and proceed as detailed below. Please note that this construction schedule is tentative and subject to change. The road will be FULLY OPENED. Stage 2 Cedar Springs Road - July 3 rd to August 31 st, 2018 Lane Restrictions: Traffic will be restricted to local access only. Cedar Springs Road will have one lane of traffic maintained at all times outside of the road closure area south of Grand Blvd. Expect delays from construction activities. Road will be FULLY CLOSED at 6097 Cedar Springs road south of Grand Blvd.
Stage 3 Cedar Springs Road August 31 st to Oct. 1, 2018 Lane Restrictions: Cedar Springs Road will have one lane of traffic maintained at all times. Expect delays from asphalt paving activities. The road will be FULLY OPENED. Work to be done on Grand Blvd entrance As part of this project, Cedar Springs Road at the Grand Blvd entranceway is being reconstructed. This work is scheduled to commence after September 4 th, 2018. While the excavation is on going, the road will be in a gravel state and one lane of traffic will remain open at all times.
Access to Your Property Please note that during normal construction hours (Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) vehicle access to and from your property may at times be difficult. In addition, driveways will be temporarily closed when work is being carried out in the immediate area. Commercial driveways will be staged to maintain access. You will be notified in advance, by either the Inspector or the Contractor of any access closures. Road Works It is expected that the roadways will be in a gravel state for an extended period of time at which point, the contractor will suppress any dust and/or nuisance caused by the granular with a dust-controlling agent. Culvert Construction In addition to the 1600mm culvert being installed south of Grand Blvd, four roadway crossing culverts have been identified for removal and replacement. The work in these areas is to be completed in stages so that one lane is open to traffic at all times. Lawn Irrigation System If you have a lawn irrigation system within the City s road allowance, please disconnect and remove any sprinkler heads within the City s road allowance. Please flag all other irrigation heads, so they are not damaged. The City is not responsible for damaged heads within the road allowance. Vibration You may at times experience some minor vibration as a result of construction equipment. Garbage Pick up Please continue to put your garbage and recycling out on the usual day. It is the contractor s responsibility to move your garbage to a location that can be accessed by the garbage truck and return your garbage containers. In order to help the contractor, we would ask that you indicate on your garbage cans and recycle bins your house numbers. c.c.
