SEASONAL SONGS SPRING: IN THE SPRINGTIME GARDEN In the Springtime garden, Rosy morning glow. Sunshine falling, calling, falling, Seeds are waking so. THE WINTER NOW IS OVER The winter now is over, and April rains are past, I know I heard this morning the cuckoo s song at last. Cuckoo! Cuckoo! Oh can t you hear it too? I know I heard this morning the cuckoo s song at last. The sun on every mountain has melted winter s snow. The birds build in the treetops, the cuckoo s song they know. Repeat refrain. DANDELION I m a happy little thing, always coming with the Spring; In the meadows green I m found, peeping just above the ground, And my stalk is covered flat with a fuzzy yellow hat. Little children when you pass. Lightly on the tender grass, Skip about but do not tread, on my small and lowly head. I m the flower that s come to say, winter time has gone away!! PUSSY WILLOW I know a little pussy, Her fur is silver grey, She lives down in the meadow, Not very far away, She ll always be a pussy, She ll never be a cat, For she s a pussy willow, Now what do you think of that? Meow 7X- SCAT! SIGNS OF SPRING I know, I know, I know it The Spring is here at last. There s dogwood on the hillside, And redbud coming fast. Wake robins in the deep woods, And wild geranium. I know, I know, I know it The lovely Spring has come!

Spring is here said the bumblebee. How do you know asked the old oak tree? I see yellow daffodils dancing on the windy hills! SPRINGTIME GOODBYE Springtime, goodbye. Springtime, goodbye. You may no longer stay, Summer is on his way. Springtime, goodbye.springtime, goodbye. SUMMER IN THE SUMMER GARDEN In the summer garden, Where we singing go. Light is flowing, glowing, flowing, White the roses grow. White the roses grow. SUN I greet the noon with open arms The sun has risen in the sky I spread my arms just like a bird I want to soar and jump and fly! (Refrain) Oh Sun Play with me, Sing with me, Shine your lovely rays on me Oh Sun. Walk with me, Talk with me, Dance with me so happily! My friends and I we gather here And make a circle like the sun We play the afternoon away The Earth, the Heavens and we are one. (Refrain) Oh Sun Play with me, Sing with me, Shine your lovely rays on me Oh Sun. Walk with me, Talk with me, Dance with me so happily!

I planted a little brown seed, with a pit-a-pat, pit-a-pat, pit-a-pat-pat. I watered it often and pulled out the weeds with a tug and a tug and a tug, tug, tug. The seed grew strong and tall in the sun with a push, push here and a push, push there And a beautiful plant grew from each one! I dance with the flowers I sing with the sun The warmth of my heart I bring to everyone. AUTUMN IN THE AUTUMN GARDEN In the Autumn garden, Rosy evening glow. Leaves are dancing, prancing, dancing. Sail to earth below. COME LITTLE LEAVES (Each child has a fall colored silk that is waved through the air as they twirl and sing.) Come little leaves said the wind one day Come over the meadow with me and play Put on your dresses of red and gold For summer is gone and the days grow cold Soon as the leaves heard the winds loud call Down they came fluttering one and all Over the meadow they danced and flew Singing the glad little song they knew Dancing and whirling the little leaves went For winter had called and they were content Soon fast asleep in their earthy beds The snow laid a coverlet over their heads.

Autumn Leaves Are A-Falling Autumn leaves are a-falling; Red and yellow and brown; Autumn leaves are a-falling, See them fluttering down. Tra, la, la, la, la, la, la, Tra, la, la, la, la, la, Autumn leaves are a-falling, See them fluttering down. (Arms and hands above head, moving around as if they were fluttering leaves.) Autumn leaves from the treetops Flutter down to the ground, When the wind blows his trumpet, See them whirling around. Tra, la, la, la, la, la, la, Tra, la, la, la, la, la, When the wind blows his trumpet, See them whirling around. (Hands start out over head, then flutter down to the floor.) Autumn leaves when they're tired, Settle down in a heap, At the foot of the old tree, Soon they'll all fall asleep. Tra, la, la, la, la, la, la, Tra, la, la, la, la, la, At the foot of the old tree, Soon they'll all fall asleep. (Children sink softly to floor, and pretend to fall asleep.) Five Golden Leaves Five golden leaves hanging from a tree, Dancing golden in the sun. Along came the wind and blew through the town Whoosh! One little leave tumbled down to the ground. Four golden leaves hanging from a tree, Dancing golden in the sun. Along came the wind and blew through the town Whoosh! Another little leave tumbles down to the ground.

Three Two One.and the last little leaf tumbled down to the ground! When Mary Goes Walking When Mary goes walking the Autumn winds blow, The poplars they curtsey, the larches bow low. The oaks and the beeches their gold they fling down, To make her a carpet, to make her a crown. AUTUMN, GOODBYE. Autumn, goodbye. Autumn, goodbye. You may no longer stay, Winter is on his way. Autumn, goodbye. Autumn, goodbye. WINTER In the Winter Garden In the winter garden, through the falling snow, Stars are gleaming, streaming, gleaming, Down to earth below. In the winter garden seeds lie warm below, Flowers are waiting, waiting, waiting For the Spring to blow. Come Little Snowflakes Come little snowflakes, dance through the air, Making the world so pure and fair, Light and bright, sparkling white, Soft as the wings of the dove in flight. Oh, where do you come from, you little flakes of snow, Falling, falling, softly falling on the earth below? On the trees and on the bushes, on the mountains afar- Tell me snowflakes do you come from where the angels are? Winter Goodbye Winter goodbye, winter goodbye You may no longer stay, Springtime is on its way: Winter goodbye, Winter goodbye.
