NOTICE OF RACE Open Dutch Championship In the National Solo class Organised by STICHTING WESTEINDER ZEILWEDSTRIJDEN (WZW) in conjunction with the Royal Netherlands Watersport Association (RNWA), Yacht Club Aalsmeer and Dutch Solo Class Association. from 2 till 4 September (inclusive) 2016 location: the Westeinderplas near Aalsmeer, the Netherlands 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). 1.2 The Rules for Championships Sailing, Windsurfing and Kiteboarding will apply. 1.3 The Sailing Instructions may change some rules. 1.4 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence. 1.5 Every person on board who has his domicile in the Netherlands shall have the appropriate license. 2 ADVERTISING 2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. 3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the National Solo Class. 3.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the registration via a link on the event page: http://www.westeinderzeilwedstrijden.nl. 3.3 The closing date for entries and payment will be August 27th 2016. Entry fees have to be paid into the bank account of Stichting Westeinder Zeilwedstrijden in Aalsmeer. IBAN: NL71 INGB 0000 4044 93. Please mention "NKSOLO2016" and your sail number. 3.4 Late entries will be accepted under the following conditions: permission from WZW is required to participate and a late entry fee of 10.00 will apply on top of the entry fee. 4 FEES 4.1 Required fees are: 90.00 (including happy hour on Friday and barbecue on Saturday) 5 SPARE 6 SCHEDULE 6.1 Registration: Day and date: Friday September 2 nd 2016 from 08:30 till 11:30 hours. 6.2 Dates of racing: Date September 2 nd till 4 th (inclusive) 2016 Class Solo NOR ODC Solo 2016 Page 1 of 5
6.3 Number of races: Class Number of races Number of races per day Solo 9 3 Note: One extra race per day may be sailed, provided that the championship does not become more than one race ahead of schedule. 6.4 The scheduled time of the warning signal is: Date Class Race 1 Race 2 Race 3 Friday Solo 11:55 ASAP ASAP Saturday Solo 09:55 ASAP ASAP Sunday Solo 09:55 ASAP ASAP 6.5 On the last day of racing no warning signal will be made after 15:00 hours. 7 MEASUREMENTS 7.1 Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate. 7.2 In addition random measurements may be taken. 8 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 8.1 The sailing instructions will be available at http://www.westeinderzeilwedstrijden.nl no later than 19 th of August 2016. 9 VENUE 9.1 The race office is located at: Yacht Club Aalsmeer, Uiterweg 155, 1431 AD Aalsmeer. Information: info@westeinderzeilwedstrijden.nl. 9.2 Attachment A shows the location of the regatta harbour and the location of the racing area. 10 THE COURSES 10.1 The diagrams in Attachment B show the courses, including the approximate angles between legs, the order in which marks are to be passed, and the side on which each mark is to be left. 10.2 The target time of a race will be approximate 60 minutes. 11 SPARE 12 SCORING 12.1 4 races are required to be completed to constitute a series. 12.2 (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When 5 or more races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. NOR ODC Solo 2016 Page 2 of 5
13 SUPPORT BOATS 13.1 Support boats shall be marked with "coach". 14 BERTHING 14.1 Boats shall be kept in their assigned places on the road trailers while they are in the boat park. 15 SPARE 16 SPARE 17 RADIO COMMUNICATION 17.1 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. VHF will only be used for safety communication. 18 PRIZES 18.1 The Helmsman of the winning boat acquires the title "Dutch Champion" and the medal of the RNWA. 18.2 The helmsman of the winning boat of the championship acquires the Blue Pennant of the RNWA. 18.3 For second and third place there will be a silver and a bronze medal. 19 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 19.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4 RRS, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 20 INSURANCE 20.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 1,500,000 per incident or the equivalent in another currency. 21 FURTHER INFORMATION For further information please contact: info@westeinderzeilwedstrijden.nl. Cars will be parked outside the venue, please follow the instructions of the beach masters. Parking at the Uiterweg is not allowed and tickets are given. Space for campers and tents is limited. Prior notice is required. Use of terrain for campers and tents is free of charge.
