Page 1 SWMMC MONTHLY May 9, 2 015 Volum e 2, Issue 2 Southwest Metro Mustang Club www.southwestmetromustangclub.com The Twin Cities Mustang Club of America Chapter Getting Started By Pete Schmidt Car season got into high gear fast this past month. Our first cruise (two now with the late writing of the newsletter), a packed C&C, events coming out of the woodwork, lots of show details coming into focus, a custom club t-shirt (see page two), members selling cars and buying different rides, etc. And we added five members over the past month. INSIDE THIS ISSUE Getting Started 1 John Clor to be Guest at Mustangs & Ponies Show 1 New Members 1 SWMMC Notes 2 Cruise to Mill City Tavern 2 Register for 2015 SWMMC Car Shows 3 Car Show / Event Flyers information 4, 7-11 SWMMC Cruise to Okoboji Classic Cars 5-6 Swap, Buy, Sell 12 Calendar 12 We are getting lots of positive feedback on our car shows - which is great. Remember we need help and attendance (see page 3). While we have a good time at the shows, underlying the efforts are our desire to help our partner charity NF Upper Midwest. Come out and get involved so we can make a difference in some family s lives. John Clor to be Guest at Mustangs & Ponies Show The SWMMC is honored to have John Clor as our Guest Speaker at the Mustangs and Ponies Show in July. There is not a more knowledgeable source of Mustang history. And John is part of Ford Performance so he has his fingers on the pulse of what is happening with the new Mustang. I am very excited to meet John and hear what he has to say about the new GT350 as well as some stories about the Mustang's origins. I can't think of a better reason to register for the banquet after the car show - it promises to be a great evening. New Members April 2015 Welcome the following new SWMMC members: David & Jan Gohl Waconia, MN Jeff & Rosemary Lien West St. Paul, MN Justin Nikkola & Kelsey Donahue Shakopee, MN Bernie & Coleen Poirier Chanhassen, MN Robert & Debra Wright Shakopee, MN To date we have four people registered for the banquet. Our menu and room selections at Canterbury Park are dictated by guest count. The sooner we approach the breakeven point the more options we will have as a group. HAVE YOU REGISTERED FOR THE SWMMC CAR SHOWS YET? John will have a tent set-up during the show to talk all things Mustang and Ford. He plans on having posters to hand out. He also has plans on having a special item for each banquet guest as well as few door prizes for the banquet. Apple Ford Shakopee Sponsors the SWMMC 1624 Weston Court, Shakopee, MN 55379

Page 2 SWMMC Notes May 2 nd Cars & Coffee We had seven members rally in Eden Prairie and then drive to the AutoMotorplex. Our efforts to arrive early (at 6:40am) paid off as we were within 8 cars of the front of the American Car section, next to six other Ponies. In fact we arrived in such numbers early that we chased a couple camero s around the corner. Once again the place was jumping and packed with cars by 7:30am. We actively sought out Ford and Mustang owners to advertise the May and July shows. Lots of interest even from three Ford Fiesta owners. My personal thanks to Chuck Buchanan for pushing the August show with just about everybody again lots of interest. I am looking forward to June s C&C for more cars, less of a crowd (doubtful) and the opportunity to actively promote our remaining car shows. I will likely be looking for some help on June 6 th as we try to get the word out. Jeff Mattson Custom T-Shirt Jeff has finished putting together a custom t-shirt and is organizing a CustomInk order. If we get 10 shirts the price is $14.56 each. Once he knows how many to order and exact price he will set up an order sheet. Check out the shirt design at: Cruise to Mill Street Tavern in Cannon Falls What a glorious day for a Mustang cruise! Whatever we lost by not being able to visit King s Bar & Grill we more than made up for in comradery, great weather, and a wonderful drive to Cannon Falls. A total of 17 cars left Burnsville for Cannon Falls on April 11 th. Our lone Wisconsin member Derf Hoisington met up with us at the Mill Street Tavern. A few new members made the trip glad to have you along. The food was great, and while we could not sit as group, everyone said they had a good time. A few folks made it to the winery across the street after lunch. Thanks to our Road Boss for pulling this together https://www.customink.com/g/wjb0-00a3-vwkg Email Jeff with your interest at: mattson93@yahoo.com If everything seems under control, you re not going fast enough. - Anonymous

Page 3 Register for SWMMC Car Shows We are asking club members to register for the three SWMMC car shows early. This gives us some indication of who will be attending and allows us to start planning on details that depend on group size. Of particular importance is the registration for the Mustangs and Ponies All Mustang Show at Canterbury Park. Getting a large turnout is important to coverer our costs but also allows us to reserve a suitable room for our after-show banquet room. Mike Malecha s 1985 Fox Body For Sale (see page 12) Registration forms can be found on the back the show flyers. The flyers are available through both the club web site and the shutterfly site. The forms can be given to Mark Prokop, David Kronk or Pete Schmidt. The mailing address for Mark Prokop is listed on the registration forms. If you know you will be at one or all of the shows, why not register early? You will save a few bucks and help us in planning the events. We will need help running all three shows as well. Please consider contributing your time Thanks! Member Profile: Still On Hiatus Looking for volunteers for future issues. All that is needed is a quick bio on you how you got interested in cars, what you like, your past/current ride, family, etc AND one picture of you with your car. Contact Pete
