EPDBA COACHING APPLICATION 2018 STATE CHAMPS & 2019 WABL SEASON East Perth District Basketball Association (EPDBA) is seeking applicants for coaching positions for all age groups and divisions for the upcoming 2018 State Championships and 2019 season for the Western Australia Basketball League (WABL). Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced coaches. East Perth Basketball Association will form a short list of applicants for arranging meetings Applicants will be notified if they are required for a meeting EPDBA Mission Statement The WABL program at East Perth District Basketball Association (EPDBA) aspires for all players to develop their skills and potential in order to compete at the elite competitive level of WABL. Being a coach of an EPDBA WABL team means you see the potential in all players and aim to develop and enhance player s skills, knowledge, team work and sportsmanship in a safe, positive and fun environment. Our aim is to ensure we develop not only a player s basketball skills we also assist with teaching player s life skills, knowledge and respect to help them to reach their full potential.
Planning and Organising CRITERIA REQUIRED FOR REPRESENTATIVE COACHES An essential task for any coach is to organise their team trainings. In addition to in-game advice, coaches are also responsible for the preparation of their players through training. Training includes both skill and fitness development along with strategy training. Coaches who take the time to plan and organise their trainings are more likely to achieve their goals and objectives. Motivator All coaches need to be motivators. This will instil a positive, resolute approach to challenges in their players. Leader It is important for all coaches to display positive leadership. It is the coach that players will to in moments of crisis. As leaders, coaches set the agenda, determine priorities and provide a direction. Teacher A coach must be able to share information and ideas. Players are very similar to students in that they are always seeking to new information to continually improve their game. Successful applicants must agree to fulfil the following criteria: Maintain a commitment to East Perth District Basketball Association (Inc) (EPDBA) for the period of the coaching contract. Continue to seek knowledge and enhance your skills as a coach and attend any coaching programs that the association may provide, including development training sessions. Attend domestic EPDBA Domestic Competitions and identify potential representative players. Follow the EPDBA dress code for players, coaches, assistant coaches Maintain a commitment to EPDBA program including all coaching and training requirements. Focus on improvement and development of all players under your guidance Produce a current Working with Children Card Agree to the EPDBA Coaches Code of Behaviour and all BWA Codes of Conduct Demonstrate and promote respect towards referees, opponents, coaches and officials
Candidates would preferably have achieved a minimum NCAS Level one qualification, however overall experience and coaching history will be taken into consideration.
