CELEBRATING 23 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Albany Chapter - American Singles Golf Association July 2015 President s Message In spite of some minor misunderstandings, the formal event at Cronin s on July 12th was a big success. We had 40 people play and over 30 of us stayed and had a delicious steak dinner. Kudos to Helene and Ellen for another wonderful event. For those of you who may have complaints about the day, keep in mind that a lot of work, time and energy go into these events, especially with a group that size. Most courses we deal with do NOT require a signed contract so it comes down to he said, she said and we just need to let it go and move on. Hopefully the mishaps at Cronin s will not prevent you from attending our next formal outing at Queensbury on Sunday August 2nd. Please make sure you reply back to albanyasga@gmail.com and get your check to Bob Doyle before the due date. Remember there will be no refunds after the cutoff date if we cannot fill your spot. We still need volunteers to run an informal golf so if you are interested in helping out send an email to albanyasga@ gmail.com and someone will respond to assist you. ~Marian (Madam Prez) July 2015 ASGA Board Meeting The July ASGA meeting was held July 7th at Salty s Pub in Clifton Park. Members in attendance were: Marian Gogola, Mike Congero, Helene Chapados, Paul Clark, Gary O Brien, Deb Ptanski, Bob Doyle, Ellen Riley, Bob Werner, John Holmes, Carol Coggins, Luella Dozsois, Karen Bishop, Kathryn Henningson, Jeanie Broshek, Ann Marie Schweitzer, Beth Lewis, and Kathleen Patterson. Topics discussed included: Formal Golf: Fox Run had 37 participants. The next formal golf outing will be Sunday, July 12, at Cronin Golf Course. Thirty-nine members have paid with all but 2 members staying for dinner. Ellen and Helene distributed and discussed the scramble rules. There was also discussion on how the teams are decided upon. Players are encouraged to get a handicap in order to aid in the set-up of the teams. Informal Golf: Madame President set up an outing at Stadium on 7/3 with 12 participants. Volunteers needed to set-up more informal outings. Mike Conger, Kathleen Patterson, Ellen Riley, and Kathryn Henningson volunteered. Social Calendar: The next Friday night happy hour will be held at the Macaroni Grill on July 10 th. Membership. Marian received a list from the national office of members who have not yet renewed their membership. Mike Congero has volunteered to contact these members. Old Business: ASGA ordered 10 Birdie Cups. Eight have been sold and 2 are still available. Contract Bob Doyle is interested in purchasing one. New Business: There will be several vacancies on the board next year. All are encouraged to consider filling these openings. Next meeting will be held Tuesday, August 4th, at Salty s Pub in Clifton Park at 6:30. No rain, no storms and sunshine all day! 40 players came and enjoyed the course. We had many new members joining us for the first time, welcome Kathryn A. Hennigson, Annemarie Schweizer, Jeanie Broshek and Nelson Beebe; we hope to see you again in the near future. After socializing with a cocktail on the terrace, we proceeded to the dining room for a BBQ dinner. Cronin s owner surprised us with steaks instead of chicken and beans! It was delicious! After dinner we awarded the usual Prizes. Again this time the scores varied very little, they ranged from 68 to 75.
