1 CELEBRATING 23 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Albany Chapter - American Singles Golf Association June 2015 President s Message On Sunday May 24, over 20 of us drove down to Round Top to take on Blackhead Mountain and we survived!! Several new people joined us including Roger, Kathryn, Farah, Lynne and Bob. We even had 2 brave people (Sandy and Yuko) walk the course even though the Pro tried to discourage them! For those of you who didn t stay for dinner, you missed a delicious meal. The 12 of us, who did stay, enjoyed rack of lamb, wiener schnitzel, pork Osso buco, and a variety of other entrees. We had 7 people spend the night and from what I heard there was a small party going on in one of the rooms. The following day we enjoyed a delicious breakfast; then 4 of us drove to Thunderhart to play another 18 holes of golf. Kudos to Helene and Ellen for setting up our formal golf outings, I know a lot of work goes into these events and it is greatly appreciated. We understand that things come up in our lives that our out of our control, however keep in mind that last minute cancellations can throw off weeks of planning and results in 3 person teams which is unfair to others. Hope to see you on the fairways soon. ~Marian (Madam Prez) June 2015 ASGA Board Meeting The June ASGA meeting was held June 2nd at Salty s Pub in Clifton Park. Members in attendance were: Marian Gogola, Helene Chapados, Sandy Kuntz, Rich Shostak, Gary O Brien. Rita Roberti, Kathryn Henningson, Jeanie Broshek, Ellen Riley, Bob Westervelt, Bob Doyle, Marianne Snyder, Ro Mulligan, Bob Werner, John Holmes, Debbi P, Jack Dennis, Beth, Lynne, Anne Marie and Kathleen Patterson. Topics discussed included: Prizes: Prize monies for the remaining formal golf events will come from the treasury. Formal Golf: The next formal golf outing will be Sunday, June 7th, at Fox Run Golf Course. Dinner will be at the Cock and Bull Restaurant in Galway. July s formal golf event will be on Sunday July 12th at Cronin s. Discussion included the ability to stay overnight and play golf the next day -- Monday July 13th. Marian will check into clarifying the overnight availability of cabins and let the membership know. Social Calendar: Social Hour will be Friday, June 5th, at City Line Bar and Grill on Western Avenue in Albany. Membership. Madame President reviewed formal and informal golf events and guidelines for the new attendees. Additionally, new members received AS GA cards and flyers, New Business: Decision was made to distribute a member-wide regarding the availability of Birdie Bottle through ASGA for $20. Next meeting will be held Tuesday, July 7th, at Salty s Pub in Clifton Park at 6:30. Fox Run Outing June 7, 2015 Wonderful weather graced us at Sunday s, June 7th, outing at Fox Run where, despite a few course glitches, 37 people came to play and enjoy the day. Although we often try to make things less complicated by dining at the course after golf, such a plan was not an option this time so we were fortunate to be able to enjoy dinner at an area favorite, The Cock n Bull. Thanks to Beth Lewis and Robin Cammans, our newest members, who sold 50/50 tickets. The lucky winner was Jim McGowan, $85. Congratulations to the winners of the individual competitions: Longest Drive Ben Penney and Beth Lewis Straightest Drive Don Sislowski and Karen Baier Closest to the Pin Bob Doyle and Marian Gogola. The final team scores varied starting at 67 and up, up, up We had to do matching cards to figure out the team placement.

Any cancellation or rescheduling of tournaments is at the discretion of the golf course management where the tournament is being played. For those of you who would like to stay overnight Albany ASGA has about 4 cabins available at Cronin's for SUNDAY, July 12th, which can sleep up to 16 people total depending on the sleeping arrangements. To reserve a bed in one of the cabins, call SAGE at # (Cronin s). Sage will take down names for cabin reservations for that Sunday night. Some people already have called, but call again to make sure you are reserved. BE SURE to mention that you are apart of ALBANY ASGA. Make your own tee times for Monday, July 13th, if you plan to play on Monday.
