1 CELEBRATING 23 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Sarasota Chapter - American Singles Golf Association - June 2015 Golf Past Events The Highlands Golf Club On Friday, June 5 th, 19 players gathered at 9 AM (yawn!) to play a scramble at The Highlands course. Everyone was anxious to get out there and enjoy the beautiful morning. Thanks to Jason Stutzman, The Meadows Golf Sales Manager, we were escorted to the first tee on time! First place teams prizes were awarded to Team Johndrow. Team members were Mickey Bernard, Mary Brown and Bobbie Doyle. Second place team congratulations went to Team Weinberg. Assisting Fred was Gary Slavin, Joan Berner and Karen Ohnmacht. Bona Fenzl won closest to the pin and Debbie Berry had Team Weinberg Team Johndrow the longest drive for the ladies. The gentlemen winners were Fred Weinberg for longest drive and Jim Mazza for closest to the pin. Last but not least, the 50/50 raffle was won by Carol Drew. Thanks everyone! ~Gerry Thinnes Serenoa Golf Club Twelve SSGA members met up at Serenoa on Saturday, June 20 th, for breakfast (most of us did not realize that was included), golf and lunch. The day started out rather warm with blue skies and a slight breeze. We hit the links as four 3somes playing our own ball. The day went along smoothly until the group hit the back nine. That is when a storm cell decided to form up over the golf course and we decided the lightening was getting a little too close for comfort. We retired to the club house for lunch, drinks and prizes. The course graciously provided us with a 9 hole rain check so we will finish the back nine on another day. Jim Johndrow won the closet to the pin for the men and Bona Fenzl won the CTP for the women. Gary Slavin won the 50/50 raffle. It was a fun evening despite the Bolts losing the game. The Corner Grill Group

3 Several members joined up for the Friday on the Bay concert at the Van Wezel to listen and dance to great music provided by one of Sarasota s local bands, Kettle of Fish.
