1 CELEBRATING 12 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Philadelphia Chapter - American Singles Golf Association June 2005 Monthly Meeting We had our first Monthly Chapter meeting at a new site: The Valley Forge Wyndham Hotel on May 11. We will continue to meet there the 2nd Wednesday of the month through August. About 20 people attended along with a few new prospects for membership. All the flyers and current Golf Calendar were made available to everyone. Some "seasoned" members were there to answer questions and encourage the "new" people to join our group. Next meeting is Wednesday June 8. By the time you read this Newsletter, 20 of our members will have some good - and we hope "awesome", stories to tell about their trip to The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA over Memorial Day Weekend. 20 Philadelphia Chapter Members are going on this very special trip sponsored by the National ASGA. Almost 300 ASGA members and their guests will be there. posit, as well as a guaranteed number of golfers. We usually reserve players, but we need to give a final count 7 to 10 days prior to each event. Due to limited space in Monthly Newsletter, our flyers are now on our website. Click on name of outing and you will see a copy of the flyer with full details. We would like to do one or more "9 & Wines" over the summer and early Fall. We need Coordinators for these, so if you are interested let me know. We are all here to help you arrange this. The "9 & Wines" are a great opportunity for people who don't want to spend the entire day playing golf, want to practice their game, and to enjoy a few holes and dinner with some friends. Hit balls then have drinks/dinner at Michael's Pub on the premises. Great food!! and prices are extremely reasonable. Anyone is welcome to come even if just for drinks/dinner. Sixteen golfers played in this fun event - a gorgeous twilight golf outing. Everyone stayed for drinks and dinner, Debbie & Lynn closed the place. Pat Hawes won Closest to the PIN. Use the SCROLL BARS! or you can go into ASGA National then click on "List of all chapters": Hickory Valley Golf Course Gilbertsville, PA - Saturday May Golfers participated in Rich Schonwald's Annual Golf Outing. It was a beautiful Spring day, despite the spotty showers! The showers proved to be to the advantage of Doris Williams who, through the blowing wind and rain, won "Closest to the Pin" on #15! Other winners included Paul O'Connell for the Men's "Closest to the Pin", Howard Schwarz and Beth Coulter for "Longest Drive". We then went to "Our Place" for libations and food. It was good to see some "old familiar" faces. But particularly glad to see some new people to ASGA, such as Maria Anakia, Jeanne Grant, Bill Moyer, Howard Schwarz, Lois Spero and Cathy Galoppo. Thank you Rich for another fun outing.
