FRIDAY FLYER Blessed Trinity Catholic School October 5, 2018 Click here for our school calendar Click here for our lunch menus Follow us on Social Media: facebook/btschool @BTSocala From the Principal s Desk Hello BT Families, Thank you for another great week at Blessed Trinity. We had a wonderful morning coming together as a school to pray the Rosary together as part of the Living Rosary. Thank you to all of the students and teachers who helped organize this prayer. It was a perfect way to start the day. We are getting closer to our school Carnival, which will be held October 18 th 21 st. Today your student should be bringing home a Bake Sale Flyer. Our Bake Sale is 100% profit for the school and your student can earn a dress out day (to be used after the carnival) if you bake something or bring in baked goods. Please look at the flyer for more details. Additionally, please continue to bring in your raffle tickets and wristband vouchers. We have had a good week so far and will update you with sales so far on Monday. Finally, it is also time to sign up for your carnival shift. Please remember that every family must work a Carnival Shift as part of your way of sharing your time and talents with us. At this time, we have filled the ticket booths with BT Teachers and others who have worked the ticket booths before. The sign up link for Food and Beverage sales, Parking and Security will be live for you to sign up beginning tomorrow morning at 9:00 am. You will receive an email from me with the sign up link to go in and choose your carnival shift. Please remember that if you sign up for Food or Beverage, that could mean a variety of different jobs. You may be working in the drink trailer, you may be cooking, taking money at the food court, working the Bake Sale, or even helping to clean up the food court as needed. Our carnival is so successful because of all of you and I was so impressed with how willing you all were to fill in wherever needed. Many of you jumped from the grill to the Bake Sale, and back to the grill again and never complained. Additionally, several of you graciously volunteered to work an extra shift, when your relief didn t arrive on time. Last year the carnival was my first Big BT event and you all showed me right away how special this place is. I know this year will be another great year. As we look to start signing up this year, thank you in advance for your flexibility and willingness to help wherever needed. On a separate note from Carnival, next Saturday, October 13 th, would have been Jalen Hajal s 14 th Birthday. Jalen was a student at Blessed Trinity who passed away from brain cancer in March 2015, when he was in the 4 th grade. The 8 th grade class asked if they could do something special to remember their friend, and so we will be having a dress out day on Friday, October 12 th. All proceeds will go to children s cancer research. Additionally, a few students will be sharing some of their memories of Jalen after Mass on Wednesday, October 10 th. There is not a set amount for the dress out day students will be able to dress out for any donation they are able to give next Friday, October 12 th. Thank you again for all that you do for our students and our school! Megan Losito

Blessed Trinity Catholic school is blessed to offer our students engaging digital learning environments which will prepare them for their future. We know how important home connectivity is and how frustrating it can be when the technology does not work. Here are a few tips: Access all websites from Google Chrome when on a laptop. If an ios/android app is not available for your device, then access the website through the Google Chrome app. Check login credentials and any school letters regarding access to Dreambox or Smarty Ants/Achieve3000, (these are posted on RenWeb). In an effort to help with this, the BT tech team is offering assistance, every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-4:00 PM. At this private sessions, we will try to troubleshoot any home connectivity issues. Please schedule your in-person appointment or conference/video call through this LINK. You will be redirected to our SignUp Genius web page. Then simply select the date and time convenient for you. Here is the actual link, in case you need it. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0448aaaf23a4fa7-bthome School Uniform Sales Risse Brothers will be here for a new uniform sale on Thursday, November 1 st from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Gym Foyer. Parent Reminders Carline Information A reminder to parents that everyone needs to practice safe and considerate driving during drop-off and pickup. Please DO NOT speed through the parking lot. Also note that all lines have a waiting order. Parents are not allowed to skip other cars who have been waiting. Find the back of the line where your student is to be dropped off or picked up. Also, now that we are a couple of weeks into school, walk-ups are no longer allowed, except for special circumstances. Walk-ups were allowed ONLY on the first day of school to get students accustomed to and familiar with school procedures. New Policy: The end of the school day is just as important as the start of the school day as we are setting students up for tomorrow s success at the end of each day. For that reason, there will be no early checkouts 30 minutes prior to dismissal, 2:25pm M,T,Th,F 1:30pm on Wednedays Parents are NOT allowed to park at Florida Dentistry. You can be towed. Primary: Primary will utilize the multiple line system that has been in place. First arrivals will be placed in line and the first to go. Next arrivals will follow suit. Elementary: Cars should utilize both lanes in the morning and in the afternoon. Middle School: The carline should be single file in the mornings. Please DO NOT drop students off either in front of the gym or at the crossroads in front of the outside basketball courts. ALWAYS drive forward to the picnic tables. This is for the safety of our students. You have time! Tardies do not start until 7:55. Thank You! Both lanes will be open in the afternoon. Extended Day: Please DO NOT double park in the circular driveway at Parish Hall when picking up your children

Student Absenses Volunteers Needed Volunteers are needed for ice cream sales on Fridays during the student lunch hours 10:30am -1:30pm. All volunteers must be fingerprinted and cleared by the Diocese. Please contact Mrs. Hildner, childner@btschool.org, in the school office if you can help.

Habit 2: Begin With the End In Mind To Begin with the End in Mind means to start every endeavor with clearly defined outcomes. It also means to determine our own life s purpose Where is Christ calling you? It ensures that as we are climbing the ladder of success, the ladder is leaning against the right wall. The carpenter s rule is measure twice, cut once. You have to make sure that the blueprint is really what you want, that you have thought everything through. By defining outcomes before we act, we ensure our efforts are truly effective. We can do this by clearly defining our vision and purpose in life. We sometimes overlook the people who really matter to us. Is there an important relationship you ve neglected? Take time to write down what your end in mind is for this relationship. Do something today to make that end in mind more of a reality. Habit Bingo Each month in the Friday Flyer we print a copy of the Habit Bingo. This Bingo card is a way for families to reinforce our Habit for that month. For example, Habit #1 Be Proactive is the Habit Bingo that was in the Friday Flyer in September. At the end of the month, if a child brings a completed card to school, please email me and I will bring them a Leadership Lollipop. Congratulations to Clayton Knight! He completed Habit Bingo for September! During the month of October we are focusing on Habit 2, Begin with the End in Mind. Habit 1 is the habit of personal responsibility, choice, accountability, initiative and resourcefulness. Each month in the Friday Flyer we will include a Habit Bingo which will help you support the Habit at home. Work on this and have your student return the Habit Bingo before the last Friday of the month. You can get Bingo in any direction across, up and down or diagonal! We will be handing out Leadership Lollipops the last Friday of the month during lunch to all who return their Habit Bingo!

Leadership Around School Congratulations to the following students for earning the Leadership Lollipops: Anastasia Vey, Carter Eiland, Adayah Harris and Veronica Gardner Random Acts of Kindness While selling Kirby s today, second grader, Karlo Delguidice in Mrs. Hyde s class, donated a dollar for someone to get Kirby s today. Karlo s donation helped another student who lost $1 earlier in the day. Thank you Karlo for your kindness. Ice Cream Fridays Thank you to Kirby s Premium Frozen Yogurt for our first Ice Cream Friday. We will continue every Friday, when students can purchase for $2.00.

Parish Day Care Parish Day Care Date: Friday, October 19 th Place: BT Gym Click http://btschool.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/10/parish-day-care- Form-10-19-18.pdffor required form. Please return form with payment prior to Friday, October 19 th to BT office. From the Music Department Piano Lessons Piano lessons offered once again to BT students and/or parents by Mrs. Jene Bean. Piano lessons are private, once a week for half hour or one hour sessions, at my home in NE Ocala. I have taught at BT for many years. However, I am only teaching at home this year and am taking a limited number of students. Would prefer students with or without previous lessons. However, they must be ages 7 and up and willing and able to practice at least 30 minutes a day. It is a fact that piano lessons improve concentration, I.Q., and help with math, history, as well as self-confidence. I enjoy teaching all types of music, and give the students a well rounded knowledge of the subject. If interested, please call me at 352-351-3989, or 352-208-7993 (cell). Lesson costs are $20.00 for half hour and $40.00 for one hour. Special rates for more than 2 children per family.

Altar Servers NEW Altar Server Training 5:30pm-7:00pm Wednesdays, October 3, 10, 17 and 24 The Altar Servers ministry is training new altar servers Starting Wednesday October 3, from 5:30-7:00pm in the church. Altar serving is open to any Catholic youth that is currently in 5th through 12th grade. Your serving commitment is 1-2 masses per 8 week schedule cycle and additional masses during the busier holiday times. This is a wonderful ministry focused on learning the Mass in detail, while serving at the Altar of Our Lord. We look forward to all those youth ready to share their time and talent with our ministry. We will have a short parent/student meeting on Wednesday, October 3rd at 5:30pm in the church, immediately followed by the first training session. Please email btaltarservers@gmail.com to register and reserve your spot for training or if you have any questions. Space is limited to 12 students and attendance is required for each of the 4 training sessions. The next training sessions may be offered in May. Also, we request a parent or two to stay with us during the trainings, even if you can only stay for one of the nights offered (must be fingerprinted, please email us if you can help!). Sacraments Attention All Students in Need of Off Year Sacraments (RCIC) After submitting and registering for the off-year Sacraments, Wednesday afternoons a class will be offered in which students will be picked up in front of the BT Elementary bldg. and taken to the Community Center for approximately one hour of instruction. This will begin Wednesday, September 5 th from 2 p.m. 3 p.m. Upon completion please specify if your student will be picked up from there or needs to be taken to After Care. IT S NOT TOO LATE to still sign up. If you have any questions you can contact Cyndi Sieger; 352-629-8092 ext. 3207 or csieger@blessedtrinity.org. Students Receiving the Sacraments at Blessed Trinity Mass participation is a big part of the faith formation of a child. Students in our G.I.F.T. program and Blessed Trinity School who are receiving a sacrament this year are asked to attend Mass weekly. After Mass STUDENTS will be asked to have a Mass Attendance form signed by the officiating priest or deacon. These forms can be picked up upon leaving the church from the bulletin cart. Please make sure the date, your name, and the teacher are listed. These forms will be turned in on a weekly basis to your classroom teacher or G.I. F.T. teacher. If you are visiting a church other than Blessed Trinity, please have a bulletin from that church signed by the officiating priest and return it to your teacher. Teachers will be monitoring attendance beginning the weekend of, 9/8 th and 9/9 th.

Confirmation Children s Ministry Children's Ministry is looking for volunteers to help spread the weekly gospel message to our youngest parishioners. The commitment is approximately 1-2 times per month during the 11:00 mass. Volunteers are needed to help lead the weekly discussion (teaching materials are provided) and to help supervise. Please contact Annie Menjivar at amvollmar@gmail.com if you're interested in joining our ministry! From the Gift Shop

EDGE Life Chain Sunday October 7 th : 1:45 3:15pm Once again we will be joining together for this prayerful demonstration of our respect for the sanctity of human life for one hour on pine street, north of 17th Ave. We will meet in the parking lot near the basketball courts at 1:45 to collect signs and then walk to our spots. All families and children are welcome and encouraged to join us. Please wear any EDGE shirt (if you have one) and bring a water bottle, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and chair if you wish. We will stand as a group quietly and peacefully demonstrating our commitment to unborn babies, and then return to the BT parking lot to go home. (This event does count as extra credit towards 75% participation for the end-of-year Edge trip). Optional: stay with us after Life Chain to participate in the Coastto-Coast Rosary in front of the Gym, in honor of the month of the Rosary. This is a great chance to show our Solidarity with those less fortunate, the most vulnerable in our society. Life Chain Edge Donut Challenge!!! The middle school grade with the most students joining Edge at the Life Chain on Sunday, 10/7, will get donuts delivered for the whole grade Friday 10/12. Non-BT students in the winning grade who attend Sunday will receive their donuts at the meeting. Must sign in with Mr. Westgate to count and have more than 18 students from the grade attending to qualify, so bring your friends! See you there! Fake Out October Edge Meeting Friday October 12 th : 6:30-9:00 in the Parish Hall All middle school students, join us in the Parish Hall as we discuss the common desire to be popular. Our desire to be popular often leads us to extraordinary lengths to get there, however, the discussion will seek to embrace who God has created each of us to be and recognize popularity does not make us happy; life in Christ does. We will have fun games, a great lesson, tons of friends and as promised for being awesome on the retreat Ice Cream! (There is no dinner served, so please eat before the meeting). Bring all of your middle school friends. EDGE is open to ANY middle school student interested in learning more about walking in the faith, regardless of school, church, or religion. If you have any questions please email ocalaedge@gmail.com or check us out on Facebook @ Blessed Trinity Edge or Instagram @BTOcalaEDGE.
