What is Walk the World? Walk the World is a global advocacy and fundraising event to end child hunger.it begins in New Zealand and finishes in Samoa. The Walk is a joint effort between WFP and its corporate partners, led by TNT, Unilever and DSM. It takes place in 24 time zones within 24 hours to highlight the problem of child hunger and raise funds for WFP School Meals. OUR GLOBAL PARTNERS TNT is a global mail and express delivery company serving more than 200 countries. Since 2002, they have been an active partner of WFP and to date have invested over $50 million in the partnership. TNT founded Walk the World in 2003 as an engagement event for its employees. Unilever is one of the world s leading suppliers of fast-moving consumer goods with strong local roots in more than 100 countries across the globe. Unilever joined forces with WFP in January 2007 for a three-year partnership to improve the nutrition and health of poor, school-aged children around the world. DSM is a life sciences and materials sciences company. In April 2007, DSM and WFP joined forces to ensure the nutritional needs of WFP beneficiaries are met through the creation of cost-effective micronutrient interventions to improve the general food basket. 3
Facts and Figures Since its inception 7 years ago, Walk the World has mobilized over 2 million participants and raised enough funds to feed over 190 thousand children in school for one year. Facts and Figures Every year between 300,000 people take part in Walk the World in about 200 cities in more than 80 countries. The funds raised through Walk the World feed 20,000 school children every year. 4

We partner with National Youth Commissions around the world. We encouraged students to organize their own walks or other fundraising events. Walk the World Global Highlights Walk the World Pilipinas had a fun run and a race with KC Concepcion and celebrity bands. New York hosted North America s largest Walk the World event, with hundreds of employees of WFP, TNT, Unilever and DSM who walked in Battery Park. For the first time, Iraq joined us and took place in Northern Iraq and was linked to Child Day. In Sri Lanka the Hunger Train transported WFP, Unilever and TNT employees together with media and government representatives from Colombo to Negombo. Walk the World Global Highlights WFP Denmark organized Walk the World in 24 cities around the country Walk the World Gambia included a Fun Day for children, quiz competitions and TV/radio panel discussions In Honduras, WFP hosted a soccer game Goal Against Hunger in the national stadium with participation from celebrities. In Korea, the National Team joined the Walk. In Japan, 4,000 people walked along the sea in Yokohama. 8
