Ionia Downtown Development Authority Newsletter September 2018 Grand River Tour de Ionia Bike Ride Become a part of the 2nd Annual Grand River Tour de Ionia Bike Ride hosted on Saturday, September 15th. Five adventure rides have been designed for all ages and endurance levels. A fun ride of six miles is the perfect outing for families. For more serious competitors, a full 17 mile, 25 mile and 50 mile ride have been mapped for both on and off the trail system. Proceeds support the Ionia Rotary Club Foundation and the Ionia Scholarship Endowment Fund. For more information and registration, visit www.ioniarotaryclub.org. NOTE: The Ionia Farmers Market will be closed on Saturday, September 15th. Check in for the Tour de Ionia will be held at the Market Pavilion. Buy Nearby Campaign! Isabella Phoenix Gallery Reception The Michigan Retailers Association announced their official Buy Nearby Michigan campaign scheduled for October 5th - 7th in communities throughout Michigan. The annual celebration of buy local promotes small business shopping during the first full weekend of October. Special marketing materials and programming will promote the weekend to encourage shoppers to keep their dollars in Michigan. The DDA will be delivering advertising materials in early September allowing local businesses to begin promoting the event to shoppers. We encourage each business to host in-store specials, distribute coupons and display the marketing items. Please note that the DDA has applied to be a Small Business Saturday shopping community. News to follow soon. The 2nd Annual Celebration of Isabella Phoenix Gallery Opening is set to run from September 12th to October 12th. Another s Perspective will address topics of privilege, trauma and stigma and how they relate to each other in our world. A special reception will be held on September 15th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. You will have the opportunity to meet with artists and sponsors during this time. The Gallery is currently showcasing artist Richard Tipton. His works are exceptional with some offered for sale. Mr. Tipton s career began as an Ionia High School teacher in the 1970 s. It would be a very meaningful tribute for former students to view his works of art. Visit the Isabella Phoenix Gallery within Dood s Jewelry located at 342 West Main Street.
