Hilliard Bradley Ski and Board Club 2019 General Information 2 Ms. Waller- Room A214 email: Becky_Waller@hboe.org Dates for trips to Mad River: January 8, 15, 22, 29, February 5 and 12 To avoid the Tuesday night waitlist, you must 1) Turn in two properly completed forms to Mrs. Waller in A214 (mandatory) a.) The Hilliard Bradley Ski and Board Club Agreement/Permission Form 2) Pay your Mad River Mountain Bus fee- $100 paid through https://www.locallevelevents.com/ You can either search Mad River Mountain Bus Fee or use the following direct link: https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/5975 3) Purchase your Mad River Lift Tickets at www.skimadriver.com by NOVEMBER 19 th Our Ski and Board Club is using Lake Front Transportation for trips to Mad River and Cardinal Transportation Ltd for our trip to New York. For trips to Mad River, the buses will leave Bradley at 2:45 PM and return at 9:45 PM. School ends at 2:32, so there is only enough time to grab your equipment and get on the bus. Plan on changing into your ski clothes at Mad River. Club members are responsible for their own clothing and equipment, so label everything with your name and address. Make use of the storage lockers in the Mad River lodge. Students are responsible for stowing their own gear before school in Room #PE103D (locker room) from 7:20-7:40 AM. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BELONGINGS IN THE HALLWAY! Advisors and Athletic Office staff will not be responsible for items left outside locker room #PE103D. After school, students can retrieve their gear between 2:30-2:40 PM. The bus leaves promptly at 2:45 PM! Busses will be locked while we snowboard and ski (until approximately 8:25 PM). You cannot get back in the school after ski club. Also, there is a chance #PE103 will be used by visiting basketball teams, so all gear MUST be removed. *Ski Club MAY be cancelled if: 1) Mad River is closed (Check the website- www.skimadriver.com usually it s posted around 6:45 am) 2) School is closed and administration deems it too dangerous to travel to MRM.* 3) Weather deems it necessary- Mad River is nearly an hour from our school, and we don t return until 9:45pm. It may be necessary to postpone our Tuesday trip, even though our school holds other activities. *Please be sure to sign up for REMIND for all pertinent announcements regarding closings.

4 Holiday Valley, Ellicottville, NY - January 26, 2019 **This trip is for a more advanced skier/boarder** Holiday Valley 2200 ft elevation 750 ft vertical drop About one mile longest run Mad River Mountain 1460 ft elevation 300 ft vertical drop.5 mile longest run It is our impression that a really tough blue at MRM is like a green at Holiday Valley. The Holiday Valley green trails can be VERY narrow. Be aware of your skills before you sign up! ****You will be required to bring a helmet with you We will travel to Holiday Valley for a one-day trip (with Hilliard Davidson High School Ski Club). Students must fill out the health and permission form and pay $130 at: https://www.locallevelevents.com/ (Search Hilliard HS Holiday Valley Trip) or Use the following direct link: https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/5938 If you are participating in the weekly ski trips to Mad River and the Holiday Valley trip - you must pay for each fee separately on the local level events website. Tentative Holiday Valley Schedule: Saturday, January 26, 2019 (5 hour drive) Load bus at Hilliard Davidson High School 2:15 a.m Departure Depart from Hilliard Davidson High School 2:30 a.m. SHARP Arrive in Ellicottville 7:30 a.m. Tentative Skiing at Holiday Valley approx. 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Schedule Lunch on your own at Holiday Valley Return Depart Holiday Valley 6:00 p.m. A dinner stop on the return trip home (fast food) Arrive back at Hilliard Davidson High School approx. 7:30pm approx. 11:30pm Please remember for the Holiday Valley: 1. All school rules apply, as well as Ski and Board Club rules 2. Bring warm clothing- and a change of dry clothes- it s a long ride back to Columbus! 3. Turn in the Health Form, signed and Turn in the Permission/agreement form, signed 4. We must give the driver 8-9 hours off, so we will tell students of our EXACT departure time once we arrive and dismiss the bus driver. 5. Please pay $130 at our local level website by Friday, December 7th- remember, space is limited! The $130 ONLY covers your transportation and lift ticket. Food is NOT included. Feel free to pack your meals and snacks.

Hilliard Bradley Ski and Board Club Rules Mad River and Holiday Valley Ski Areas 5 The following list of guidelines is designed for the safety of the members of the club. The understanding of and the adherence to these guidelines by students and parents is essential. All students in the Hilliard Bradley Ski and Snowboard Club are subject to all Board of Education policies and Hilliard Bradley High School rules. These include no smoking and no alcohol consumption on the bus or at the ski area. If a student is found in violation of any of school board or Bradley rules, he/she will be subject to school disciplinary action and removal from the club. 1. Students will travel to Mad River and/or Snowshoe on the bus, no personal transportation is permitted. 2. Students are expected to comply with reasonable requests of Ski Club advisors. 3. Students are expected to obey all safety rules and requests from the Ski patrol, employees of Mad River Mt. and/or Snowshoe and law enforcement personnel. 4. Students are not allowed in the adult only areas in the ski lodge. 5. Students will be on the bus at Bradley at 2:45 PM (Mad River trips only) 6. Students will be on the bus at Mad River at 8:45 PM SHARP! Late arrivers may forfeit future trips and be subject to disciplinary action. (Mad River trips only) 7. Students must arrange for transportation and be picked up from Bradley by 9:45 PM for Mad River trips. Ski advisors will NOT transport students home. Any student who isn t picked up by 10:05 PM will not be permitted to ski the next week. Students on the Snowshoe trip should be picked up at approx. midnight. 8. In case of emergency, the advisor will phone the number on the emergency form. On Tuesdays, parents may decide to pick up their injured student from Mad River. Seriously injured students may be taken by ambulance to Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine approx. 10 minutes from the ski resort. Lakefront Lines will not transport a severely injured student. 9. Club members are expected to be in school on the day following skiing. Being too tired from skiing is not an acceptable excuse for missing school. 10. If a student is removed from the club for any reason, he /she will forfeit club membership and no money will be refunded. 11. Students must know that skiing and snowboarding involve the risk of injury. The use of helmets will be required and other protective gear (wrist guards) is encouraged.

Turn in these forms to Mrs. Waller in Room A214. No refunds will be given unless: 1. You inform us prior to the payment deadlines 2. There is a student on the waitlist who is able to take your spot. Mad River- Bus $100 (you must also purchase your lift pass and rentals- if needed- from Mad River directly by November 19th using the group name (hbhs) and password (jags). Bus fare- due Friday, November 19, 2018 Space is LIMITED! Our bus fills up fast and went on a waitlist last year! Trip dates-tuesdays (six)- 2:45pm to 9:45 pm Holiday Valley- $130 - this includes the cost of the bus AND your lift pass for the day. Cost of food is NOT included. Last day for sign ups, Friday, December 7, 2018 Space is LIMITED! Trip date- Saturday, January 26, 2019-2:15 am to approximately 11:30pm (a 22 hour trip!)
