March 2016. News from Pensacola Beach Yacht Club Dates to Remember 03/05/2016 Maxine # 2 Rites of Spring race Entire race calendar click Here Every Wednesday Night at Hemingway's enjoy $4 Mojito's, $2.50 Bud Light draft, and $1 Fish Taco's Commodore's Report Mike Pedersen, Commodore February was all about the Mardi Gras parade. The float was re-themed into a 50's beach style, and it looked great! Many thanks to all that helped especially: Andrea Zern-Mardi Gras Chair, Guy Briere-generator, Ed Medley-Float transportation, Joy Linker-float artist, Kirk Newkirk-party host, and Kriss Ridgeway-Sound system. The next step in the building process is the the setting of the pilings. We are still on schedule to have the pilings installed sometime in March. The building is still set to arrive in April and be ready to move into sometime in May. Of course these are rough dates as there are many factors that go into construction. I am thrilled to announce that we will be launching a new website in the coming days. Maria Weisnicht and Jean Rolland have worked tirelessly to create a brand new website from scratch and then transfer all of the data over. The new site will have many new and useful functions. Not the least of which will be the ability for new members to apply and pay online. We will also be exploring the opportunity for members to pay their dues in four installments if they desire. The membership database and billing is now being handled by Jean Rolland. He and the board have made amazing organizational advancements in how we handle the membership. We hope to have all of the kinks ironed out in all of these new systems well before our grand opening so we can hit the ground running. The next time you see Maria, buy her a drink, she saved our butts (and a lot of money) through her outstanding efforts. I will be recommending that her dues be waived next year as a thank you to her.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly over the next two months. We can then look forward to an amazing grand opening party! Mike Blanda, Treasurer Account Balances: Bar Account $4,026 Operating Account $36,657 Building Fund $169 PayPal $128 Membership Report: Jean-Hugues Rolland, Membership Coordinator We have no new members to announce this month. The club currently has 110 active full memberships and one active junior member. We have 2 member applications received. Dues are currently: $450 (couples) and $337.50 (singles) Fleet Captain Report Kirk Newkirk Well for February we had one event, the Valentines Regatta. Much better conditions then we had for the Frostbite event in January. We had 7 boats, 3 in Spin A, 3 in Spin B, and 1 non Spin. The results were as follows: A. 1st Tryptonite, 2nd Atlantic Union, 3rd Helldiver B. 1st Phoenix, 2nd Reach Around, 3rd Pink Meamie 2

Non Spin 1st Sea Breeze This coming weekend, March 5, we have the Maxine # 2 series race and are expecting a good turn out for that. Skippers Meeting will be at Hemmingway s 6:30 to 7. Please try to preregister. If we have favorable winds we may move out to the bay abit and do bouy races. Kirk Newkirk 3

Secretary Report Christi Colabianchi We had a nice turnout at our General Membership meeting. Thank you all that attended. We are very close to the launching of our new website. If you are interested in receiving an updated copy of our PBYC By-Laws please email or text of your interest: sweetbugzie@msn.com or text me 850-525-6998. There is an amazing opportunity to be a board member in the most important time in PBYC history. Mardi Gras Committee The weather was awesome for our 2016 Krewe of Wrecks Beach parade! We are thankful for all who were walkers, riders, our driver and host. Our float this year was perfectly parked within eyesight of Kirk Newkirk's home who served as a great host! Hope you all enjoy our photos from the Parade! 4
