The two teams begin the season with a four-game series. This is the first three visits to Peoples Natural Gas Field this season for the Sens. RH John Simms takes the hill for the Sens making his first ever start in a season opener as a professional. Roster Make-Up Of the 25 players beginning the season on the active roster, eight are considered top 30 prospects by Baseball America. The eight are led by what most publications agree is the top right-handed pitching prospect in all of baseball, Lucas Giolito. Joining Giolito are. Overall the breakdown looks this way: 22 of the 25 were in the Nats organization last season; 17 have played in Harrisburg before; and 16 have spent their entire careers in the Nationals organization. The average age is just a tick under 25 at 24.92 while the average experience is 6.6 years. The oldest player on the roster is Juan Gutierrez (32) while the youngest is Giolito (21). Three players have big league experience (De Los Santos, Gutierrez and Difo). Eight players are aged 23 or younger. Upcoming Homestand The Senators home opener is next Thursday, April 14 against the Reading Fightin Phils. It ll be the first of a seven game homestand. What DH? Harrisburg opens the season with 14 consecutive N.L. games. Of their first 28 games, 21 of them are National League style games. Sens Bits The Senators open the 2016 season looking to turn things around after back-to-back seasons not making the playoffs. The Sens last made the playoffs in 2013, coincidentally, the last time Matt LeCroy was the skipper. Upcoming Schedule The Senators play four games in Altoona before moving on to Binghamton to play the Mets. After their season opening road trip, the Senators will play 17 of the next 24 games at FNB Field. Three of those games are as the visitor against Hartford. Coaching Staff Matt LeCroy returns as manager of the Senators. He spent the past two seasons in the big leagues on the Nationals staff. Chris Michalak returns for his third season as the Senators pitching coach. Brian Rupp joins the Sens staff for the first time has hitting coach. Eric Montague returns for his third season as trainer and Tony Rogowski is back as strength and conditioning coach. 2016 AT A GLANCE Home Record: Road Record: Daytime Record: Night Record: 1R Game Record: 2015 Best Mark: 2015 Worst Mark: First Half: Second Half: vs. Eastern Division: vs. Western Division: vs. AL: vs. NL: Senators Score First: Opp. Scores First: Lead Entering 7th: Lead Entering 8th: Lead Entering 9th: Tied Entering 7th: Tied Entering 8th: Tied Entering 9th: Trail Entering 7th: Trail Entering 8th: Trail Entering 9th: Shutouts: Sens HR in a Game: vs. RH Starter: vs. LH Starter: Extra Innings: Double-Headers: Series Record: Scoring 4 or Less: Scoring 5 or More: Allowing 4 or Less: Allowing 5 or More:
