CACLT Registration forms for qualified athletes will go to AASSA and the fees should be paid online to the Quebec Speed Skating Federation (per the meet information on the AASSA web site). All CACLT athletes need to be registered as ELITE athletes with AASSA and SSC (in MMS) AASSA will be offering clothing items to qualified CACLT athletes - contact info@aassa.ca for details; shipping by meet dates is not guaranteed. CSSA has booked flights for CACLT (Quebec City, Feb. 8-12); CSSA may have seats to offer skaters from other clubs; this will be determined next week.

Athlete registrations should now be complete for Alberta Winter Games. If athletes have not registered online and provided AASSA with $60 fee, please do so immediately. Contact info@aassa.ca for more information. Parent-Officials are needed for the Short Track Speed Skating event at the Alberta Winter Games. If you are planning to attend the Games and are able to help, please let us know. You do not need to be a high-level official. Canada Cup #2 Senior Mass Start included Kaleb Muller finishing 4th, Matej Pederson 5th ( middle), Josh Hathaway ( front right) 6th, and Jack Deibert - crossing the line behind national team members including World Cup medallist, Chris Fiola. Well done boys! Photo: Arno Hoogeveld Canada Cup #2 There were almost 45 Alberta athletes competing at CC2, with many great moments, personal bests and rewarding racing experience. Top finishers for the women in individual races included Brooklyn McDougall who had a very strong, consistent week of racing - setting Brooklyn up well for her last Canadian Junior Championship in February; also strong were Maddie Pearman, Danielle Wallish, Keira Poelzer, Hee Won Son, Cassidy Peterson, Jenna Merth and Connie Kapak. Top finishers for the men included Kaleb Muller, Connor Howe, Robert Winter, Jeff Ross, Josh Hathaway, Frank Roth and Max Halyk. A special shout-out to Max Krabben from Rocky Mountain House who is a first year Junior and one of youngest at the competition, but who had excellent results (watch out older guys!). Congratulations everyone! Full results (except the Mass Start) are available on speedskatingresults.com or the Olympic Oval web site. There were also many Alberta Volunteer Officials and Olympic Oval staff members supporting Canada Cup #2 and the Canadian Individual Distance Championships / Olympic Team Selections - Thank You to everyone who makes these meets happen! SSC / Team Canada Long Track Selections Congratulations to skaters who qualified for and were invited to participate in the Team (Olympic) Selections, held over the past week in parallel to the CC2 races: Maddie Pearman (including 7 th in the Ladies 1,000m race), Keira Poelzer, Connor Howe, Jeff Ross, Kaleb Muller and Rob Winter. Connor was the youngest competitor at the Team Selections and both Connor and Kaleb are still Junior athletes; they will be racing at the Canadian Junior Championships in February. Following very successful Team Selections and fall World Cup results, these national team members from Alberta have been provisionally nominated to represent Team

Canada at the February Olympics in South Korea! Brianne Tutt, Kaylin Irvine, Gilmore Junio and Ted-Jan Bloemen. Ted-Jan is this year's Canadian Men's Single Distance Champion in the 5,000m and the 10,000m distances, while Brianne Tutt is the Canadian Ladies' 1,500m Champion!
