We are very proud to announce that we will be hosting the 2013 National Stream Cup. National Stream Cup is an event that allows National Stream Women's Artistic Gymnasts from all over Canada to compete against each other as teams as well as individuals. The Cup allows athletes to experience a two day competition in preparation for the Canadian Championships and the Canada Games. Each province can send up to four teams including National Open, National Novice, Pre-Novice Aspire and Pre-Novice Elite teams. As individuals they compete from the Provincial 5 all the way up to High Performance levels. National Stream Cup is a competition which was resurrected last year after a ten year absence, by the mutual support of all Provinces. Canadian Pre-Novice athletes have been invited to participate last year. These 8-11 year old athletes are just beginning their competitive career; National Stream Cup gives these athletes a great national competition exposure with experiences in team and individual events at an Elite Level. The Club has delighted thousands of young athletes over the years who love to tell stories of training in the old Bubble (air dome) of the past. In July 2011 Ortona moved its home to the new GO Sports within the Saville Community Sports Centre on the University of Alberta South Campus. A larger facility than the old air dome with new equipment and advanced training tools. It has allowed for the expansion of programs and attracted the attention of the gymnastics world. Ortona Gymnastics has had a long history of athletic excellence and community presence due to the skills of talented and dedicated coaches, staff and volunteers who have worked and played at Ortona over the years.
