Members from our club who attended were Ron Geiskopf, GESC President, Bill Dumka, Newsletter Editor, Karen McBride, Past Secretary, and Mike Hardiman, Past Cross Country Co-Chairman. Jeremy Davis gave a very interesting presentation about Lost Ski Areas in the Greater New England area. The out going president, Eric Handcock, presented many awards. After all the awards people congregated in groups to exchange stories and experiences. It was fun seeing and talking with people we knew. I know that the council will have a great schedule of events for the upcoming season. I look forward to seeing and skiing with our friends from the council. An Old Gem Revisited I would like to introduce our newer members, and older members (with bad memories) to a gem of a kayaking experience. Come with us to an easy, lazy day of fun kayaking on the Outlet of Piseco Lake. We start from Rt. 10 about a mile down the road from the turn off on Rt. 8. After an easy put in of our kayaks, we lazily paddle up stream to the Lake. After crossing the Lake we will stop at the state park and have a bite to eat. Don t miss this one! Mark your calendar. For more info, contact Andy Reath at 735-0349 Kayak on West Canada On Saturday May 13, just before noon, nine kayaks, one canoe, eleven people, and one can of beer --- well one big can of beer, -- actually, one very big can of beer, shoved off for a delightful trip down the West Canada. The clouds parted, the sun came out, the temperature rose, and the wind blew in our faces for most of the trip. With the water down a bit and a head wind, the raging class.5 torrents normally experienced, were a bit tamer. Maybe class.25. All in all a nice trip even if Randy did have to carry his kayak across a shallow spot. Afterwards, we celebrated our victory over the water with some normal size beer cans and some large burgers, -- well, very large burgers at Vans. All who went, enjoyed. Those who missed, -- well-- tough.
