These balls had negligible aerodynamic properties. Gradually, the Dutch adopted a ball made of white leather and filled with cow's hair which was used in the local game of kaatsen (hand tennis). Oneota Ladies News for July Thanks to all who participated in the best shot on June 10th and to Todd for the Straight Shootin clinic. Also, thanks to everyone who has donated the delicious cookies for us to enjoy on the course. If interested in helping this year, the sign-up sheet can be found on the table in the ladies locker room. JULY EVENTS July 1 Odd/Even July 8 Best Shot (18 Holes) 8:00 am July 15 Rally for the Cure July 22 Putt Day July 29 Ryder Cup Rally for the Cure July 15, 2014 Please join us with your $20 participation fee as we raise money to fight breast cancer! Each participant receives event favors, breast health information, a magazine subscription, and has a chance to win prizes. There will be eighteen flag event winners and raffle drawings for numerous items. If anyone is interested in donating an item to the Rally for the Cure event, please leave it at the bar or contact one of the committee members. We will also have a Tree of Hope and Remembrance set up to celebrate or remember your loved ones. Just donate a dollar per name and tie their name to a branch on the tree. Money from this and the raffle will go towards gas cards for cancer patients in Winneshiek County. We have had great participation in this event for the past several years and hope everyone will continue supporting this worthy cause! Following play on Thursday: putting and chipping contest, shoot-out, steak fry, and Calcutta auction. Low and high teams will be paired for Friday.
