ANOTHER GOODBYE I'm sorry to report that we lost another Twirler Club member and square dancer in May Jerry Johnson. Jerry had been struggling with a variety of health issues for a long time, but whenever he could, he came to workshop with DiAnn and danced. Services were held in Bell Gardens on May 26th. In his memory, at the May 23rd workshop, Vic called and we danced to Jerry's song for the last time "Fly Away!" Jerry. You will be missed.

CALENDAR: Club Square Dance: Twirlers, we hope to see you on Sunday, June 11th "Celebrate Your Heritage" Mike Haworth Calling Shauna Kaaria Cueing Pre Rounds 2:00 Squares 2:30 to 4:45 Kay Ceniceros Senior Center Corner Newport Rd. and Evans Rd. Dancing to Rod Shuping at Rancho Cucamonga's Anniversary dance on May 5th were Earlean Wagner, Lisa Bates and Bill & Jackie Brown. While there they visited with Betty Zachariah & Bernie Dickey who promised to come dance with us again soon. Friday May 19, Bill, Jackie, Earlean along with Marylou Hoffman and Lisa Evans were at Cowtown having fun dancing to Steve Woodard. Where were you? WHERE WERE YOU? Hopefully you made it to GrapeStompers where Lisa reported that Dan Nordbye called the best dance ever or maybe you made it to the CCHA Hoedown. VISITATION POT: Bob Stoops' name was drawn for the Visitation Pot at our May dance. Unfortunately he did not qualify to win so another $5 was added to the Visitation Pot. SUNSHINE Say a prayer for our friends that have not been well lately, give them a call, send a card or email to let them know you care. BIRTHDAYS: Susie King 6/18 Andy Abeles 6/23 ANNIVERSARIES: Virginia Maudsley 6/6 Vi Henderson 6/24 BIRTHDAY COUPON A Birthday Treat for YOU! Use it at any one Tuesday workshop during your birthday month. Simply cut out the coupon and fill in your name below, present it to the treasurer when you arrive and you re paid for the night!

PRESIDENTS MESAGE: Dale is collecting dues for 2027-2018. Still a bargain-- $15 for dancers; $10 for non-dancers. Deadline the end of June. Cash or check accepted. Make checks payable to Canyon Lake Twirlers. FUNDRAISING: To help the Club's finances, we will be having a lot of fundraising events this summer. The first event is tentatively set for Saturday June 24th when we are planning to hold a YARD SALE. It will be in Temecula at Bill & Jackie's house. We are looking for items to sell. This is a chance to get rid of those unwanted items you have cluttering up your house and garage and help the Club. Bring items you would like to donate to the Tuesday workshop or contact Bill or Jackie if you have items you'll like them to pick up. We will be having a fundraiser at Richie's Diner in July. Watch for details. BOARD MEETING BRIEFS: As part of the process of moving from Canyon Lake, the Board voted to change the name of the Club to the Twirlers Square Dance Club. The Board decided to begin the process to make our class an official Kay Ceniceros Center class. If our application is approved, we get free advertising and do not have to pay rent for the room we are using. However, we will have to continue to pay for the room for our dance. There are a few other issues that will have to be worked out. Meanwhile we will have to do some vigorous fundraising to replenish the Club treasury. CLASS NOTES We have a very enthusiastic class. They are learning quickly and have almost completed all the basic calls. Once they have reached this milestone, we will hold a dance on Tuesday night to celebrate! We do need Angels for the Tuesday class. If we have more Angels, we can have fewer class members in a square and more experienced dancers there to help them. ELECTIONS-- 2017-2018 TWIRLER BOARD THE CLUB NEEDS YOU! We will be electing the new Twirler Board at our June dance. We still need : Vice President to take charge of our class. Hospitality Director to work with Ron to provide treats for our workshop and organize food for our dances. CCHA Rep to attend quarterly meetings and report back to the Board. You can be on the Board even if you don't dance any more. WE NEED YOU!
