ISTRUZIONI DI REGATA/ SAILING INSTRUCTIONS SEASCAPE CUP 2018 CLASSE / CLASS - SEASCAPE 12th - 14th Oct.- 2018 Torbole, Lake Garda 1. RULES 2.1. The races will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 2.2. The following class rules will apply: SeaScape 18 class rulles. 2.3. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence. 2. NOTICES TO COMPETITORS Notices to competitors will be posted on the official event website www.seascapecup.com and on official notice board 3. CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Any changes to the sailing instructions will be posted one hour before the warning signal. Pag.1di 6

4. SIGNALS MADE ASHORE 4.1. Signals made ashore will be displayed on the flag pole. 4.2. When flag AP is displayed ashore, 1 minute is replaced with not less than 30 minutes in the race signal AP. 5. SCHEDULE 5.1. 8 races are scheduled, of which one is a Speed Challenge that runs parallel to other races. 5.2. All competitors are competing in Speed challenge. Rankings will be made by analysing submitted GPX tracks that were submitted to the Sailing record website (http://www.sailingrecord.com/) not latest than Sunday 13:00, linked to the regatta. More details at the Race Office. Only tracks made during the start of first race and end of last race are eligible for rankings. Received tracks will be ranked on fastest 500m averages achieved by the teams. You can use any other GPS tracking app or device as long as the minimum sampling rate on the GPX track is one position every 5 seconds. We recommend RaceQs mobile app (http://raceqs.com/ru/home/sailing-app/). Competitors must provide their own phone or other GPS tracking devices and take care of keeping them charged. 5.3. The time of the warning signal for the first race is: Friday: 13.00 Saturday and Sunday: 13.00 5.4. No warning signal will be made after : Sunday: 16:00 6. CLASS FLAGS Class flags will be: SeaScape 18: SeaScape 24: Flag F Flag J FOXTROT JULIET 7. RACING AREAS The location of the racing area will be on Lago di Garda, Italy 8. THE COURSES 8.1. The diagram in Attachment A shows the course. The course for navigational races will be posted the day before the race, latest at 20:00. 9. MARKS 9.1. All marks will be yellow cylindrical buoys. 9.2. The starting marks will be the race committee signal vessel on starboard end and buoy on port end. 9.3. The finishing marks will be the race committee signal vessel on port end and buoy on starboard end. 9.4. A race committee boat signalling a change of a leg of the course is a mark as provided in instruction 11.2. 10. THE START 10.1. Races will be started by using rule 26 with the warning signal made 5 minutes before the starting signal. 10.2. The starting line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the starboard starting mark and the course end of the port-end starting mark. 10.3. A boat starting later than 4 minutes after her starting signal will be scored Did Not Start without a hearing. This changes rule A4. 11. CHANGE OF THE NEXT LEG OF THE COURSE 11.1. To change the next leg of the course, the race committee will display a flag C and move the original mark (or move the finishing line) as soon as practicable. 11.2. Boats shall pass between the race committee boat signalling the change of the next leg and the nearby mark, leaving the mark to port and the race committee boat to starboard. The finishing line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the port finishing and the course side of the starboard end finishing mark. 13. PENALTY SYSTEM Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty. 1414. TIME LIMITS 14.1. Time limits for technical races are as follows: Time limit Mark 1 time limit 60 minutes 30 minutes 14.2. If no boat has passed Mark 1 within the Mark 1 time limit, the race will be abandoned. 14.3. On technical races, boats failing to finish within 15 minutes after the first boat sailed the course and finishes, will be scored Did Not Finish without a hearing. This changes rules 35, A4 and A5. 15. PROTESTS AND REQUESTS FOR REDRESS 15.1. A boat that intends to lodge a protest, shall report this to the Race committe on the Finishing line, immediately after finishing. This is added to rule 61.1. 15.2. Protest forms are available on the Race Committee signal vessel on the Start/Finish. Protests and requests for redress or reopening shall be delivered there within the appropriate time limit. The protest time limit is 60 minutes after the last boat has finished the last race of the day. 15.3. Notices will be posted no later than 30 minutes after the protest time limit to inform competitors of hearings in which they are parties or named as witnesses. Hearings will be held in the race office, beginning at the time posted on the notice board. 15.4. Notices of protests by the race committee will be posted to inform boats under rule 61.1(b). 15.5. All notices about protests will try to be announced also by mobile phones. If parties will not be available or organisers will not have to correct phone number, this will not be ground for redress. This changes rule 62.1(a). 15.6. Breaches of instructions 18, 19, 20, 21, and 24 will not be grounds for a protest by a boat. This changes rule 60.1(a). Penalties for these breaches may be less than disqualification if the jury so decides. 16. SCORING 16.1. The Low Point Scoring System of Appendix A will apply. 16.2. Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series. 16.3. (a) When up to 3 technical races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When more than 3 technical races have been completed, the worst technical race score is excluded from boats total series score. (c) When 9 or more technical races have been completed, her two worst technical race scores are excluded from boats total series score. (d) Navigational races and Speed challenge results are scored with double points. (e) When two or more double-points races are sailed, the worst double-point race score is excluded from boats series score. 17. SAFETY REGULATION A boat that retires from a race shall notify the race committee as soon as possible. 18. REPLACEMENT OF CREW OR EQUIPMENT 18.1. Substitution of competitors will not be allowed without prior written approval of the race committe. 18.2. Substitution of damaged or lost equipment will not be allowed unless authorized by the race committee. Requests for substitution shall be made to the committee at the first reasonable opportunity. 19. EQUIPMENT AND MEASUREMENT CHECKS A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing Circolo vela Torbole Page 3 of 6 SEASCAPE CUP 2018

instructions. On the water, a boat can be instructed by a measurer or race committee equipment inspector to proceed immediately to a designated area for inspection. 20. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee. 21. RADIO COMMUNICATION Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not avaliable to all boats. This restricitons also applies to mobile telephones. 22. PRIZES Prizes will be awarded to: First three boats overall in class Seascape18. Winner in class Seascape18 will be declared European champion 2017. First boat in class Seascape24 23. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 24. Attachment: B: PENALTY POINTS Penalty points for failure to comply with SeaScape 18 Class Rules. This document explains how penalties will be assessed and gives general guidance on the appropriate penalty. When the protest committee has good reasons to do so, it may apply a different penalty. If a competitor requests a hearing after a points penalty has been imposed, the protest committee may decide (in the hearing) to give a greater penalty.
