Sunday September 26 - Mike Massey, Floyd Carter, Tom Kropiva, Steve Kendall and Jim Corbett flew. Mike Denlis assisted, Mel Marcum visited. Fall Follies October 2-3, Bill Riegel Field, Salem, Ore. John Thompson reports - Fall Follies in Salem was one of the highlights of the modeling year. Perfect weather, great turnout, flying constantly from early morning until evening both days -- and a great Saturday night party and Sunday barbecue. Three auctions, world-class aerobatics flying. If you had the misfortune of missing it this year, put it on your October calendar for 2011! And, by the way, three Prop Spinners placed in the contest: Mike Massey got second in Intermediate Precision Aerobatics, Floyd Carter took third in Advanced PA, and John Thompson took third in Classic Stunt. For a full report on the Follies, see the Flying Lines web site. ( http://flyinglines.org ) Next Club Meeting Time and Place Time and place 10:00 AM Sunday, October 17, at the field. Or at Wings restaurant in the airport terminal if the weather is bad.

At the Field September 19 Meeting Meeting a bit misty. Mike Massey getting air time. Wind was near calm, but variable when there. Rental cars were not an issue. At the Field September 25 Floyd Carter s Super Madman The original JC Yates Madman kit (Burbank Models, 1948) was 49" wingspan and powered by an Orwick 64. We have photo proof that JC Yates built a larger version of his Madman, also about 1948. Plans were drawn up by Don Hutchinson, and were approved by PAMPA for Old Time Stunt. The "Super" spans 56", also powered by Orwick 64 on spark ignition. This example weighs just 43 oz. with Orwick 64. Paint scheme is a copy of the model built by JC Yates: cream overall with red trim and black stripes. Don plans to feature this plane in a PAMPA Stunt News article. 2

Fall Follies October 2-3 - Bill Riegel Field, Salem, Oregon From the Flying Lines Report: The 2010 Fall Follies ended the Northwest control-line aerobatics season on an upbeat note, with two packed-full days of stunt flying in perfect weather conditions. Turnout was good, with 28 contestants making 94 official flights over the two days. The lineup of planes in the pits was impressive to the spectators who dropped by the field. Sunday Precision Aerobatics pits from the back of the line. Flying Lines photo. Floyd Carter's original design Hurricane, powered by Ro-Jett.61. Flying Lines photo.
