Schoolboy rugby has served as one of the cornerstones of domestic rugby dating back more than a century, and true to its slogan Honouring Heritage. Playing for the Future, is about history, heritage and tradition. The series, now in its third year, is expected to grow even stronger. The stories are further captured in 12 Preview shows, which preview all the games and provide historical overviews of these traditional schools and highlight other academic, cultural and sporting achievements. Paul Roos Gymnasium takes on Paarl Gimnasium on their home turf Saturday, 16 May kick off at 12.15pm. The match will be televised live on Supersport 5 (channel 205) and SuperSport Select (channel 210) The Preview Show featuring Jacques Potgieter, Rikus Bothma and Daniel Du Plessis will start airing Wednesday evening, 13 May 2015 at 17:45 on SuperSport one (channel 201) Schedule Date Series Episode Start Time End Time Channel 13-MAY-2015 13-MAY-2015 15-MAY-2015 15-MAY-2015 Eps. 4 - Paul Roos vs Paarl Gim 17:45 18:00 SS1s / CSN Eps. 4 - Paul Roos vs Paarl Gim 20:35 20:50 SS7s Eps. 4 - Paul Roos vs Paarl Gim 01:00 01:15 SelSA(210) Eps. 4 - Paul Roos vs Paarl Gim 05:45 06:00 SelSA(210) Eps. 4 - Paul Roos vs Paarl Gim 14:00 14:15 CSN Eps. 4 - Paul Roos vs Paarl Gim 14:30 14:45 SS1s Eps. 4 - Paul Roos vs Paarl Gim 14:30 14:45 SelSA(210) Eps. 4 - Paul Roos vs Paarl Gim 22:45 23:00 SelSA(210) Eps. 4 - Paul Roos vs Paarl Gim 15:00 15:15 SelSA(210) Eps. 4 - Paul Roos vs Paarl Gim 22:45 23:00 SelSA(210) For all results, fixtures, videos, photos and information visit the new Premier website at http://www.premierinterschools.co.za/ All stats provided by Nelio De Sa from www.rugby15.co.za

Follow on: Facebook: www.facebook.com/premierinterschools Twitter: @PremierSchools vs Historic Overview Paul Roos Gymnasium vs Paarl Gimnasium Boland towns Paarl and Stellenbosch will once again do battle on Saturday 16 May when Paul Roos hosts Paarl Gim in their annual rugby derby. Paarl Gim are eager to avenge the loss they suffered on home turf last year, especially as it's Paul Roos 150 th year and they were recently crowned Sanix World School Rugby champions in Japan. These two schools share a long and rich history in rugby and the first recorded time Old Boys of the two schools played together for SA was in 1906, when the Springboks played Ireland in Belfast. That day Steve Joubert was the first of many Gimmies to represent his country - and his Bok captain was Paul Roos himself.

In a reverse for 2015, current Springbok captain Jean de Villiers is an old Gimmie, while Paul Roos latest Springbok, Willie le Roux, is also in the side. Recent Results Results over the last six years are even, with Paul Roos and Paarl Gim having won three apiece. Home advantage had little influence over the last two years, with Paarl Gim beating the hosts at their Markotter fields in 2013 and Paul Roos returning the favour last year. Results since 2009 Date Paul Roos Paarl Gim 2009/05/09 47 36 2010/05/08 27 30 2011/05/14 34 30 2012/05/12 8 28 2013/05/11 15 24 2014/05/10 16 10 2015 Season In their 150 th year celebration, Paul Roos are under constant pressure to perform well. So far they have not disappointed and have won all of their full matches, only going down to Rondebosch in a 20 minute each way friendly with no kicking for points allowed at Newlands. They have toured to Japan to represent South Africa at the Sanix Youth World Rugby Championship and after six matches on a tight schedule they returned as holders of the gold medal.

Coach Hein Kriek is a proud man after good wins over Affies, Jeppe, Monument and Grey High PE. Next, however, is the competitive Western Cape Schools league and if they can survive matches against Paarl Gim, Paarl Boys, Rondebosch, Boland Landbou and bogey team Bishops, they will truly have had a great season. Paul Roos Squad 2015: 15 Joshua Vermeulen, 14 Troy Payne, 13 Nico Leonard, 12 Sebastian Uys, 11 Jason Myburgh, 10 Damien Willemse, 9 Tiaan Coetzee, 8 De Wet Castelyn, 7 Roelf Burger, 6 Dean van Tonder, 5 Joa Swart, 4 Louis Conradie, 3 Dre Calitz, 2 R Matthee, 1 Muammir Salie. 16 Christiaan van Deventer, 17 Abrie Coetzee, 18 Stephan Annandale, 19 Lazlo Pschorn, 20 Malan Basson, 21 Jacques Hanekom, 22 Hein Steenkamp, 23 Adrian van Niekerk In stark contrast to Paul Roos, Paarl Gimnasium has been moving under the radar to quietly go about their winning ways. They had people sit up and take notice, though, with their demolition job of Pietersburg at the Paul Roos 150 th festival day. They then wrapped up wins against Menlopark and Garsfontein in the North-South tournament before surprisingly going down to Bishops at the Piley Rees. A mixed bag followed at the Wildeklawer tournament where they had a good win against HTS Middelburg before drawing with Affies on the last day. Paarl Gimnasium Squad 2015: 1 André Booysen 2 Johan Grobbelaar 3 O Neill Thiart 4 Muller Uys 5 Ernst van Rhyn 6 Johan Visser 7 Gustav Marais 8 MJ Hayes 9 Anrich Stoman 10 George Lourens 11 Max Thalwitzer 12 Taigh Schoor 13 Charl du Toit 14 Keenan Abrahams 15 Wian van Zyl 16 Emile Booysen 17 Rohan Hamman 18 Jan Neveling 19 Nicolaas Uys 20 Johan van As 21 Theo Boshoff 22 Naudé Wessels Rugby at Gim

Paarl Gim is without doubt one of the Big Five rugby schools in South Africa. They have to date produced 30 Springboks, of which 20 have been capped in tests for South Africa. Incumbent Springbok captain Jean De Villiers is an old Gimmie. Their biggest rivals is Paarl Boys High based in southern Paarl. Their annual showdown has the unofficial title of Biggest in South Africa. In 2012, while still at school, captain and pivot Handre Pollard represented South Africa at the U-20 World Cup with aplomb. Called up for the injured Johan Goosen, Pollard played a vital role in SA winning the final against New Zealand. He again represented the U-20s in 2013 and captained the side in 2014. The young man is currently plying his trade with the Blue Bulls Super15 team and, in 2014, he became Paarl Gim s 20 th Springbok. Handre Pollard in the colours of Gim. Rugby at Paul Roos

The words Paul Roos and rugby are synonymous. The great man was the originator of the famous Springbok emblem and name for the South African national team. He is seen by many as the father of South African rugby and it is fitting that the school that carries his name is such a powerhouse.

Paul Roos has to date produced the most South African players to represent their country on a rugby field, with Juandre Kruger becoming their 50 th when he faced England at Kings Park on June 9 2012. Their latest Springbok is fullback Willie Le Roux, who earned his test cap against Italy in June 2013.
