The Broncos most recently played a team 6-0 or better on Oct. 23, 1994, against the Chargers, who were 6-0 at the time., which was 1-5 at the time, defeated the Chargers 20-15 in San Diego behind 241 passing yards from John Elway and 121 receiving yards from Shannon Sharpe. In 1961, (3-4) faced the 7-0 Chargers in San Diego on Oct. 29, and lost that contest 37-0. REMATCHES OF PLAYOFF GAMES The Broncos have their last three games and five of their last six when playing a team for the first time since facing it in the postseason. will look to continue its success in those situations on Sunday when it hosts the Colts, who defeated 49-24 in an AFC Wild Card Game on Jan. 9, 2005, in the teams most recent meeting. All-time, is 15-15 (.500) when playing a team for the first time since a postseason meeting against that club. The Broncos are 11-7 (.611) in these games against an opponent they defeated in the playoff game and are 4-8 (.333) against an opponent they lost to in the postseason. The same scenario presents itself again next week when the Broncos travel to Pittsburgh for their first-ever game at Heinz Field. The Steelers defeated the Broncos 34-17 in the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 22, 2006. The Colts jumped out to a quick 14-0 first-quarter lead after Manning found James Mungro for a 2-yard touchdown pass and running back Edgerrin James scored on a 1-yard run. After Manning's second touchdown of the day, a 19-yard strike to tight end Dallas Clark, the Broncos' Jason Elam put on the scoreboard with a 33-yard field goal. The Colts offense responded quickly, however, as Manning increased the lead to 35-3 with a 35-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne and a 1-yard quarterback sneak in the closing seconds of the half. The touchdown concluded an 85-yard drive, cutting the Broncos deficit to 35-17. Indianapolis denied any thoughts of coming back when Manning connected with Wayne for the second time in the game for a 43-yard touchdown pass. The Broncos scored their final points on a 1-yard touchdown run by Tatum Bell in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to catch up to the potent Colts offense, which amassed 530 total yards for the game. GAME INFORMATION HEAD COACH MIKE SHANAHAN TRANSCRIPT MONDAY, OCT. 23, 2006, PRESS CONFERENCE On the status of LT Matt Lepsis' and RDT Gerard Warren's injuries from Sunday's game "Unfortunately Matt (Lepsis) has an ACL and it will be about a 10- day recovery and after that I fully anticipate an operation. For an ACL they have typically a six month recovery. Yes, he is done for the season." On who will start for LT Lepsis "We can go with Erik (Pears) or we can move Cooper (Carlisle) over and bring (LG Chris) Kuper up. We can go in different directions. We haven't decided exactly what we are going to do for sure." On the level of play LT Lepsis has performed for the Broncos over the years "Matt has been a warrior. He has always been out there. He has been great in the running game and great in the passing game. He is one of those guys that you can always count on. It's real unfortunate to have this type of setback. It is one of those freak accidents where you don't know why it occurs, but it occurs. We are going to have someone step up and play well. I thought that Erik (Pears) did a great job playing in the game on Sunday. We had a couple of communication errors between nickel defenses and base defenses but he did a pretty good job changing up their substitutions and overall I thought that he played well."
