Match report. Jan 5 2013. CTAGA sponsored the annual Tom Horn Match Lever Action Rifle match on Saturday Jan 5, 2013 with Mike Geiman as Match Director. This year the match featured three different rifle classes divided by caliber and further divided by age group into Cowboys and Senior Cowboys. There were at total of 19 shooters. We fired a total of 50 rounds each, 40 rounds at ranges of 200 yards down to 50 yards at steel targets, and 10 rounds at approx 25 feet on novelty targets. The novelty targets were playing cards, nail heads, ping pong balls glued to golf tees, golf tees, and ping pong balls hanging on strings. To finish the day we had a post shoot where the shooters divided up into teams and shot to cut posts in two. The winning team consisting of Wes Lumry, Jim Rierson, Don Maxey and James Dvorak managed to cut a hanging landscape timber in two with 16 rounds. My thanks to Randy Hardey for helping me plan and set up the match. Also thanks to the members who came out to shoot and then helped clean up the range afterward.
