MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR Keep summer safe by learning to swim with the CVRD On a hot summer day there is nothing more refreshing than going for a swim in one of the Comox Valley s lakes, rivers, ocean beaches or swimming pools. It is important to be safe while enjoying this activity and enrolling in swim lessons is the first step. The Red Cross water safety program is set up to teach everyone children to adults how to swim. In addition, it covers basic water safety rules, how to tell if a swimmer is in distress or is drowning as well as how and when to call for emergency help. You also learn how to assist someone in trouble in the water while keeping yourself safe. I encourage you to check out the CVRD summer swim lesson schedule along with the many other activities in the summer recreation reporter. Have a safe and active summer.
