Rule 5 Scoring and Timing

Rule 5 Scoring and Timing Timing Games will consist of 4 Eight minute quarters Half time will be 10 minutes long (can be up to 15 minutes if home game management has properly notified the visiting team) If the clock does not start/stop properly, the official may correct the mistake by using an official s count or other official information If play is resumed with a throw-in or free throw and three tenths (.3) of a second or less remains on the clock, only a tap may occur to score a goal. A player may not gain control and try for goal

Rule 5 Scoring and Timing 5.10.2 Following a violation, there are five seconds left on the clock in the fourth quarter. A1 throws the ball in to A2 where the official properly signals the clock to start and immediately begins a closely guarded count. After three seconds on the closely guarded count, B2 fouls A2. After the official reports the foul, the time informs the official the clock did not start. Ruling: Since the official had a count for closely guarded, the clock will be reset to two seconds.

Rule 5 Scoring and Timing 5.2.5.A With three tenths of a second on the clock in the third quarter, when A2 (a) taps the ball or (b) grabs the ball and quickly shoots A1 s missed free throw or A1 s inbound pass. In both cases the ball leaves A2 s hand before the horn sounds and goes throw the basket. Ruling: A. Count the basket since a tap is allowed with three tenths of a second on the clock B. Do not count the basket since a catch and shoot cannot happen with three tenths of a second on the clock

Rule 5 Scoring and Timing 5.2.5.C With three tenths of a second on the clock in the fourth quarter, the game is tied and each team is in the bonus. Team A has a throw-in on the end line near their basket. A1 throws the ball to A5 near the block who catches the ball and quickly shoots. A5 is fouled by B3 prior to the end-of-period signal. The ball goes throw A s basket. Ruling: Since A5 cannot gain control and attempt a try in this situation, A5 cannot score a goal and is not considered in the act of shooting. However, B3 s foul cannot be ignored and is considered a common foul. A5 is awarded the one and one bonus with the lane cleared. If A5 scores the first free throw, the game is over, if not an overtime period will be played.

Ruling: Team A is assessed one technical foul for the violation of not having presenting its team member list 10 minutes prior. Team A is assessed a second separate technical foul for adding players to the roster.

Rule 5 Scoring and Timing

Rule 5 Scoring and Timing

Rule 5 Scoring and Timing 5.2.1.F The teams warm-up at the baskets opposite their team benches. The officials mistakenly line-up the teams facing the wrong direction. After several buckets have been scored before the officials realize the teams are going the wrong way. Ruling: All points, fouls, and any other action which has taken place until this point will count. The officials will correct the direct and continue play.

Rule 5 Scoring and Timing 5.2.1.B B1 standing behind the 3 point arc attempts to pass the ball for an ally-oop dunk to B5 who is making a backdoor cut. The ball enters the basket without contacting B5. How many points are scored? Ruling: 3 points are scored. Clearly after the ball is dead A2 contact B1. Ruling: A Technical foul on A2 and the overtime period will start with the technical foul shots B Technical foul on A2 and the foul shots will be attempted. If both shots are made/missed the game is over. If one shot is made, then overtime will be played
