Tuckahoe Athletics Winter Review 2017-2018 Tiger Pride Once a Tiger Always a Tiger We are Tuckahoe Girls Junior Varsity Basketball: This season was built around skill development. Even though we had a very young team with limited game experience, the girls won hard fought games against some tough competition. We are looking forward to what this team can do in the years to come. The future looks bright for this team. Coach Colasuonno Girls Basketball Modified: Coach Sweeney stated that the team had fun while learning the game of basketball and consistently improved throughout the season. The girls were always positive and possess qualities that we want all student-athletes to have. This was a terrific season in which the team won over 10 games. Hard work Determination
Boys Varsity Basketball: Coach Visconti stated that the Boys Varsity Basketball team went 11-10. The schedule was very competitive as evidence of our 15 bonus points. 3 out of those 10 losses were in overtime. The team played this season with a tremendous amount of heart and teamwork. Malik Moore-Crooks received All Section honors. Daron Williams received All League honors. With key players that were underclassmen, the future looks bright. Junior Varsity Boys Basketball: The season for the JV Boys basketball team was all about development. Each day the boys came to practice and accepted coaching. There were new faces to the program and returning faces. The team gave it their all every single game and really kept the ball rolling throughout the season..- Coach Robinson Freshman Boys Basketball: This season offered our team a great opportunity to face top competition in an effort to improve as a group and as a program. Over the course of a challenging 20-game schedule, there were several highlights and key moments that defined our season. One of the moments came in our first home victory vs Briarcliff with a comeback victory led by captain James Galati. Our proudest moments came in the last week of the season, playing 7 games in 9 days against several A and AA schools. Here, we managed to finish the season winning back to back games against Ketcham and John Jay-Cross River, the latter in overtime. With a healthy mix of 8 th and 9 th graders, the Freshman team managed to remain competitive game in and game out while developing daily as student-athletes. The future is bright for Tuckahoe basketball. Coach Bendlin
Modified Boys Basketball: The boys showed great commitment and effort in practice throughout the season, always coming back and working harder after a loss. Their hard work and positive attitude payed off by the end of the season as they showed tremendous improvement. -Coach Kruze Ice Hockey: The Varsity Ice Hockey team had a season full of ups and downs. The players all improved and grew throughout the season. Unfortunately it did not lead to wins. We have a good group of underclassmen returning and are looking to continue to grow and hopefully make a run into sectionals. We would like to thank the district for supporting the hockey program. -Coach Forzaglia Varsity Cheer: This season the Tuckahoe Varsity cheerleaders competed in many competitions and showcases throughout the winter. During that time, the team won 1 st place 3 times at local competitions. The cheerleaders also qualified for UCA Nationals in which they advanced to the finals and won 4 th place. Olivia Jordan and Isabella Pepperman were named All-League. Julianna Romeo was named All-Section. -Coach Smith Varsity Bowling: Just like the 2016-2017 bowling season, 2017-2018 was a great experience for all who participated. We had a huge turnout of students wanting to be part of the team. For our seniors, this season was the culmination of 4 years of dedication to the program. For our new freshman students, it was a terrific opportunity for them to get acquainted with competitive bowling and develop their skills and technique. It was wonderful to see how well all of our students progressed and improved throughout the season. -Coach Trahey and Coach Villosio Ice Hockey: The modified hockey team closed out the 2017-2018 season with a 4-3 win over New Rochelle to improve to 5-3-5. Tuckahoe winger, Matthew McCormack ended the season with a hat trick and totaled 5 points on year. 8th grade defenseman, Aidan Maginn led the team in penalty minutes as well as the top plus/minus player at +8. Andrew Costa finished third on the team in assists with 6. ETBE looks to build on our 7th grade players as we say goodbye to a very strong 8th grade class. Coach Benveniste
