Dear Members President Report The Annual Dinner was a great wrap to the end of a big year and an opportunity to highlight and recognise many outstanding achievements made by our Members. Thank you to everyone who contributed towards a successful night. This year s AGM was well attended, and again dynamic discussion occurred. I would like to welcome the newly elected committee members to their respective Boards, and I look forward to meeting them when I catch up with each Board in the coming months. Your Board of Management continues as a strong team with many, many years of experience in life saving and corporate administration. The 8 elected officers on the Board of Management will work together to set the direction of our club for the coming year. The fundraising season has started with the Annual Sports Lunch this Friday 14 July. All monies raised on the day will be used to purchase much needed lifesaving equipment for the new season. Surf Life Saving Maroochydore 11 July the USA Visiting Team head over to the west coast to compete in events at the 2017 San Clemente Ocean Festival, and the California Surf Lifesaving Championships to represent Maroochydore on an International stage. I wish all competitors the very best. Congratulations to the club members selected to travel to Shimoda this year lead by returning Shimoda member Oliver Hoelscher accompanied by Nikki Chapman, Tara Patrick, Bruce Morris, Callum Stewart and Jason Childs. Mike Dwyer Club Supervisor Bronze Course Registration Now Open... Looking to upgrade from your SRC award or know someone that wants to join the life saving movement? Register now for the next Bronze course being held at MSLSC. Course starts Saturday 22nd July and runs for eight consecutive Saturday's with the assessment day being on 9th September. The team was proudly announced at the Annual General Dinner on Saturday 10th June. The team is very well balanced with a broad range of skills and experience which will add great value to Shimoda lifesaving and surf sports. It carries a great honour and responsibility to be selected for this Maroochydore Team who represent our club proudly. The team leader is Oliver Hoelscher who travelled last year and will apply his experience on how the team visit operates at both Maroochydore and Shimoda ends. Well over 60 Maroochydore members have had the honour of travelling to Shimoda as a Maroochydore Team member over the past years, and all have found it a great team and personal experience. Once again the Black Swans were prominent in the results and it was awesome to see so many young members having a crack. For event results CLICK HERE. Thank you to our coaches, managers, officials and timekeepers! Don't forget, nominations for the Qld Pool Rescue Championships to be held on the Gold Coast in three weeks are now open. Nominations for the Australian Championships will open shortly. Any athletes wishing to be considered for Qld team selection or Australian Life Saving Team squad selection should ensure they get their entries in. These events are also opportunities for athletes to press their claims for the Maroochydore teams for next years Life Saving World Championships. R & R team Len Harris would like to invite any proficient Surf Lifesaving Club members, to contact him with a view to forming an R & R (Rescue and Resuscitation) team or teams for the upcoming 2017/2018 summer season. These members would need to be over the age of 14 or 15 and upwards in to adults. R & R teams generally are made up of 5 people. There are competitions for Under 14, Under 15, Under 17, Under 19 and Open, male or female or mixed. Each team needs one competent swimmer and the rest need to be reasonably strong, co-ordinated and healthy. The event revolves around a surf reel and in its basic form, imitates the rescuing of a patient and carrying out a resuscitation.
