For the week, Fey averaged 3.82 kills, 1.29 digs, and 0.59 blocks per set, while hitting.347. The Honolulu native had 17 kills (.483) against Stanford (Feb. 13), 19 kills (.361) against USC (Feb. 15), and 23 kills in the rematch versus USC (Feb. 16). Prior to the road trip, Fey only reached double figures once during the 2016 season. NATIONAL LEADERS: Prior to the road trip, the Warriors were among the top teams in the country in several offensive statistical categories, ranking fourth in hitting percentage, and second in kills per set and assists per set. This week, UH is 13th in hitting percentage (.299), fourth in kills per set (13.13), and third in assists per set (12.49). UH is also ninth in digs per set (8.93) and 11th in blocks per set (2.38). SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST: Senior outside hitter Sinisa Siki Zarkovic is having the best season of his career in 2016. Earlier this season, he became the 16th player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills. The Belgrade, Serbia native has double-figure kill totals in all 15 matches this season, with three over 20, including a career-best 24 in a four-set win at Pepperdine. He leads the team with a 4.00 kill average and is hitting at a.308 clip, which ranks ninth and 36th nationally, respectively. With 1,127 career kills, Zarkovic ranks 12th all-time in school history and he needs 42 to break into the Top 10. He is one shy of tying Jonas Umlauft for 11th. FROSH SENSATION: Freshman opposite Stijn van Tilburg is second on the team with a 3.53 kill average, which ranks sixth in the MPSF. He reached double figures in kills in his first seven collegiate matches and 11 overall. In his UH debut, the Amsterdam, Netherlands native had 14 kills, with no errors, in 15 attempts (.933) versus King (Tenn.) in the Outrigger Resorts Invitational. He has hit.400 or better four times and had a season-best 21 kills (.381 hitting) in a win over UCLA. DIGGIN IT: Senior libero Kolby Kanetake is slowly moving up the charts on the school s all-time digs list. His 691 career digs ranks No, 7 all-time and he needs nine digs to become just the sixth player in school history to reach 700. The Honolulu native is averaging 2.34 digs per set during his career which ranks sixth-best. Through 15 matches this season, the senior has 148 digs for a 2.69 per set average, which ranks eighth nationally. Last season, Kanetake recorded 305 digs (2.88 avg.), which tied for the second highest single-season total during the school s rally-scoring era. SETTER TANDEM: During the road trip, freshman setter Joe Worsley saw extensive playing time, even making his first career start against USC. In the Stanford rematch, Worsley spelled starter Jennings Fanciskovic to start the second set and finished with a season highs of 39 assists and seven digs. UH hit.607 and.552 in the second and third sets, respectively, with Worsley at the controls. He started UH s next match against USC and finished with 25 assists in UH s five-set win. However, during that match, Franciskovic replaced Worsley midway through the third set and finished the match. Worsley has seen action in all 15 matches, mainly as a serving specialist. Franciskovic is averaging 9.96 assists which ranks 17th nationally. Earlier this month, he helped UH to the Outrigger Resorts Invitational championship in which he was selected to the all-tournament team. MIDDLE ROTATION: UH has experimental with its middle attack this season with converted opposite/ outside hitters Hendrik Mol and Iain McKellar as the primary starters and freshman Nainoa Frank in a back-up role. Mol, a junior from Sand, Norway, and McKellar, a redshirt junior from Macclesfield, England, have started all 15 matches for the Warriors. McKellar is averaging 1.22 kills (.342 hitting) and 0.91 blocks per set while Mol sports averages of 0.91 kills (.330 hitting) and a team-best 1.06 blocks per set. Frank has seen action in seven matches this season and is averaging 1.18 kills and 1.00 blocks per set, while hitting.478. PROTECT THIS HOUSE: UH s five-set loss to UCLA on Feb. 6, snapped a 17-match home win streak which spanned exactly one year. The win streak was two shy of the all-time record of 19. However the streak was still a Stan Sheriff Center record, which UH sports an all-time records of 250-121 (.674) overall and 143-66 (.684) in MPSF play since 1995. Hawai i is 8-1 at home this season. Last season, the Warriors were 15-2 at The Stanley, their most home wins since 2003 (16-3). NEW ADDITION: The Warriors have added defensive specialist Kahiau Machado to the 2016 roster after redshirt Jasper Rhodes decided to quit the team and return to the mainland. Machado is a 2016 graduate of Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama. He is listed as a defensive specialist and is slated to redshirt this season. PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN HONORS FOR TRIO: Three Rainbow Warriors were chosen to the 2016 Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Preseason All-America teams which were selected by a nationwide voting committee. UH, along with two-time defending NCAA champions Loyola, and BYU each had a nation-best three players earn preseason All-America honors. Senior outside hitter Sinisa Zarkovic and senior libero Kolby Kanetake were picked to the 10-member first team while junior setter 2016 Rainbow Warrior Volleyball Weekly Release 2 HawaiiAthletics.com

HEAD COACH CHARLIE WADE 7th season Alma Mater: CS Fullerton, 1991 In six seasons as head coach of the University of Hawai i, Charlie Wade has led the Rainbow Warriors to one NCAA Tournament and four Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament appearances. Last season, UH had one of its best seasons in school history, finishing with a 24-7 mark - the most wins since 2004 - and reaching as high as No. 1 in the nation - a first since 2003. The Rainbow Warriors received an at-large bid to the NCAA Play-In Match, their first national appearance since 2002. In 2014, Wade guided the Warriors to a 15-12 mark and a 13-11 record in the MPSF, which surprisingly was not enough to qualify for the postseason tournament. The season included five wins over teams ranked in the top four nationally, including two-match sweeps of No. 3 UCLA and MPSF champion and No. 2 BYU and a win over NCAA semifinalist Penn State. After rebounding from a disappointing 7-20 season in 2012, Wade guided the Warriors back to the postseason in 2013 and not for a controversial call at match point in the fifth set against the Cougars in that quarterfinal match, UH may have pulled off the most improbable upset in tournament history. In 2011, Wade guided the Warriors to their second straight MPSF Tournament appearance and finished fifth in the final league standings. Prior to Wade s arrival, UH had missed postseason play the previous two seasons and suffered through three straight losing seasons. In his inaugural year as coach, Wade led the Warriors to a 19-10 mark and a trip to the MPSF Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2003. UH doubled its win total from the previous year and snapped a two-year postseason drought. UH averaged 3,415 fans per match, including a season-best 5,683 for the MPSF quarterfinal match against Pepperdine. YEAR-BY-YEAR RECORD (AT HAWAI I) OVERALL MPSF Season W L Pct. W L Pct. REPRESENTING THE USA: Junior outside hitter Kupono Fey and setter Jennings Franciskovic had quite a summer, touring with the United States Junior National Team to a pair of international tournament. Fey and Franciskovic helped Team USA claim silver at the 2015 U21 Pan American Cup in Canada and an 11th place finish at the U21 World Championships in Tijuana, Mexico. The duo spent nearly two weeks training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. before making the trek up to host nation Canada for the Pan Am Cup, where they lost to Brazil in the gold-medal match. After a few weeks off, the pair returned to U.S. MJNT action, at the FIVB World Championship in Mexico but landed in the toughest opening pool, dropping three-straight matches to Russia, Argentina, and Poland.
