ECWGG OFFICERS President: Jeanne Kosanovic FAIRWAY NEWS OCTOBER 2018 Vice President: LeeAnn Mattison Secretary: Carolyn Curtis Treasurer: Jerri Henry Days Play: Candy Matsukado Bonnie O Reilly Pati Schmitt Handicap: Linda Kelly Golf Governor: Michelle Kelly By-laws Chairperson: Gail Steinmetz!!!! Presidents Message Our last month of golfing this year (unless of course, you join our winter group!) Congrats to our two Club Championship tournament winners Dianne Rogers with low gross and Sandy Middlebrook with low net. It was a great day for all. The recruiting committee has been working hard to fill out our voting ballot for board and committee chair positions - which will be handed out at our closing luncheon. It s a great way to learn how our golf group operates and also provides an opportunity to get to know more people. Please consider running/volunteering for a position. All other current board members are going to run again either for the same position or a new one. Since we like competition it doesn t hurt to have a choice on who to vote for so please volunteer!! October only has four Tuesday play days with no special events... other than our closing luncheon on Oct 24 th. Look for Teddie s article for more information on that. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out with various projects/events. I want to call out to Dianne Rogers for a fantastic job of keeping track of our Eclectic numbers and birdies for our new players. And also to Diane Concannon for doing such a great job on our monthly newsletters. Both gals have decided to let someone else take over for them. I have enjoyed being your President for two years... and now I must step down (per our bylaws). I appreciated all the support the board provided me and all the lively meetings we had! It truly takes a village to make our programs run smoothly. I will remain as our Webmaster... See you on the course... Jeanne.......................1

Day s Play by Pati Schmitt This is it we re on the downhill run for our 2018 golf season, and I have two very important things to say on behalf of the Day s Play team: THANK YOU to all the volunteers who assisted with Day s Play check-in. ! Team Captains: Judy Soeten Alice Gommoll The final match for the ECWGG team was September 19 at Widgi. Here the ladies played Prineville. Those playing were: A Team: Gail Steinmetz and Dianne Rogers; B Team: Ginger Brooks and Judy Soeten; C Team: Mona Benetti and Sandy Austin. Birdie Balls were awarded to Gail Steinmetz, Dianne Rogers, Sandy Austin and Mona Benetti. This was the culmination to a successful season. The ladies improved with each match making numerous matches closely contested and winning their last match. The final gross score was Eagle Crest 32, Prineville 22. The net score was Eagle Crest 28, Prineville 26. Congratulation ladies, well done. The ECWGG team is looking for team members for the 2019 season. There are eight clubs competing in COWTG (Central Oregon Women s Team Golf). Those clubs include Eagle Crest, Juniper, Crooked River, Bend Country Club, Prineville Country Club, Widgi, Sunriver and Awbrey Glen. The cost for the individual player, is the purchase of a team shirt, a payment of $45-$50 to the host club for a continental breakfast, golf, cart, lunch and birdie balls. There were 14 ladies on this year s roster. We would like to increase that number for next year. To be eligible to play, one must be a member of ECWGG, listing Eagle Crest as their home course, have an index under 25 or be willing to play to an index of 25 and play with ECWGG on Days Play at least 30 days prior to the match. The six lowest handicap indexes of those who are eligible and available to play at the particular match will be selected. One or two alternates will be selected for each match in the event there is an emergency, illness or injury. This year everyone who was available and eligible either played or was an alternate. The game is partner best ball match play, where the best gross and net score of the partners is recorded for each hole. Please take this opportunity into consideration for next year. You will be able to meet ladies of like abilities plus play on the area courses at a reduced rate. If interested please contact captains Judy Soeten at tsoeten@aol.com or Alice Gommoll at agommoll@bendcable.com........................!8

COSWGA Central Oregon Senior Women s Golf Association By Charleen Hurst It has been a great year with lots of our ECWGG members winning at the ten courses that are played in the COSWGA. Our last event for this season was held at Awbrey Glen, Carolyn Curtis, Jeanne Kosanovic, and Sandy Middlebrook all won individual awards. A team game was also played with an Asian theme and everyone that played won golf certificates. Those players were Diane Concannonn, Sandy Steiger, Jeanne Kosanovic, Lee Ann Mattison, Carolyn Curtis, Jan Romeis, Sandy Middlebrookm, and Merilee Silverstein. Congrats to all! If you would like to join COSWGA for the 2019 season you can get an application form on the bulletin board at the Ridge Pro Shop. The only requirements are that you have to be at least 50, a member of Eagle Crest, and a handicap index of no more than 40.4. You need to send the application to Charleen Hurst or Lael Cooksley by November 18. We would love to have more members represent Eagle Crest. It is always fun and a great opportunity to develop friendships with women around central Oregon.........................!9
