2019 SKI CLUB All Grades 6 12 students are invited to join Ski Club, which will be traveling to Wintergreen Resort three Friday's in January for skiing and snowboarding! Beginner lessons are available, so no experience is required. Typically, space is limited, so participants will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis. We will be taking three trips to Wintergreen Ski Resort in January 2019, using chartered buses separated by grade level. Grades 6-8 will have their own buses and there will be one Upper School bus that runs on an independent schedule. Grade 6 students who have no previous skiing experience are required to be accompanied by a parent on their first trip and to take a beginner lesson offered by Wintergreen. Grade 6 students are also required to choose at least one peer ski buddy who will be their partner while at the resort, and they are also required to check in with Tom Weis in the resort cafeteria between 6:00-6:30 p.m. The cost for the full package, which includes transportation on a charter bus, lift tickets, and rentals for three Friday afternoon/evening trips to Wintergreen Ski Resort is $270. The cost for those students requiring only transportation and lift tickets is $195. For transportation only, the cost is $120. Ski or snowboard lessons are an additional $10 per lesson. Financial aid is available if needed, please contact Tom Weis. The rates that Wintergreen and the bus company have quoted us are special group rates based on specific numbers; it will not be possible, therefore, to give refunds for trips that you cannot attend. Be sure to check schedules for conflicts, particularly if you will be participating in interscholastic sports during this time period. Students who wish to participate on a limited basis due to scheduling conflicts may do so if space is available. The cost of each individual session is $90 if renting and $65 without rentals. Wintergreen season pass holders may participate in all trips for $120 for transportation only (or $40 per session). In order to participate, a student must ride with the group to and from the resort, unless we receive a parental note of explanation, and alternative plans are discussed in advance. Members of the Ski Club will be required to adhere to the rules of St. Anne s-belfield School, the bus company, and Wintergreen Resort. To do otherwise may result in suspension or removal from the Ski Club without reimbursement and additional disciplinary action by the School. To reserve a space, complete both sides of the attached form and return it, along with a check payable to St. Anne s-belfield School. Payment may also be made online at www.stab.org/forms/ski-club-trip-sign-ups.

DATE DEPARTURE RETURN TO SCHOOL Jan. 11 Afternoon 9:00 p.m. Jan. 18 Afternoon 9:00 p.m. Jan. 25 Afternoon 9:00 p.m. SKI & SNOWBOARD RENTAL Ski equipment (skis, boots, poles, and helmet) and snowboards (including boots and helmet) can be rented from Wintergreen for $25 per session. Please visit Wintergreen s website to preregister and print rental agreements at: https://secure.wintergreenresort.com/rentals/startpage.aspx (click on the photo and then click Create New Guest ) SKI & SNOWBOARD LESSONS Each group ski or snowboard lesson is $10 per person. Please check the date(s) desired on the attached sheet. HELMETS & HELMET RENTALS Students are required to wear ski helmets for protection against head injuries. If renting equipment from Wintergreen, helmets are provided free of charge. Otherwise, they are $10 per session. LOCKER RENTAL The resort has personal large storage baskets with unlimited access for $8 a day; there are also lockers that lock with a charge of $3.50 each time the locker is locked. The School Ski Club will also provide communal large storage baskets free of charge for those students who just need to store shoes or small items. We do not recommend that students leave any valuable items unattended, even street shoes. Students should remember to bring spending money if they are planning to purchase food or drinks at Wintergreen. Since skiing is a cold-weather sport, skiers should guard against injuries due to exposure to the cold. This includes dressing warmly, especially protecting head, neck, hands and feet from the cold. Cold hands in wet gloves can quickly become frostbitten. If hands become so cold that they hurt, students should see a chaperone or go directly to the First Aid Area. Taking indoor breaks to warm up and using hand pocket warmers are two effective ways to prevent frostbite. If there are any questions, please contact Tom Weis (Grades 6 8) at tweis@stab.org or Brandtly Jones (Grades 9-12) at bjones@stab.org.
