WSRC News & Events Our monthly news and events update for October 2018 WELCOME! So it s coming back again and we cannot avoid it! Autumn has dawned upon us and Winter won t be that far away! Don t get depressed though we have lots of things planned to get you out of bed and on your horse enjoying the crisp mornings and autumnal colours! As usual, the timetable of upcoming events is at the end of this Newsletter. We have now finished our Summer of events with massive thanks to the entire Committee for sharing the events load and to all involved at Whipley Manor Farm and feed store for their support with the facilities. The Summer cultivated with the Versatile Horse event which went down really well and as always we have some lovely photos and memories from Chris Lee on the FB and website pages. We would be really interested in hearing your feedback on the summer activities we cannot run these without your attendance and help and this year we were bowled over by both Thank you and we hope you enjoyed the Summer with WSRC! NEWS ITEMS PAST & FUTURE EVENTS WSRC AGM Friday 23 November 2018 The annual AGM will be held this year on Friday 23 November at Casis s Farm, Rowley Drive in Cranleigh otherwise known as the Cranleigh RDA. We are delighted to be able to host you all in the new RDA building, the Clubs association with Cranleigh RDA is solid and growing stronger year on year with various Club members being RDA volunteers including Cass Lillington who is the Secretary at RDA and our Chairman Julie who is a coach at RDA.

The evening will start at 7.30 pm look out for your personalized invitation from the committee by email or post. Our special guest this year will be Dietrich Graf von Schweinitz who will be well known to some of you as he was a local vet for Surrey Hills (now Sound Equine) for many years. Dietrich will come and talk to us about the merits of acupuncture, chronic pain identification and management and Vets with Horsepower which is a new charity he is involved with! There will be trophys dispatched and memories shared. We also have a plea this year for new committee members we currently find ourselves doubling up on jobs which is not ideal and would like to encourage anyone interested in having a say on how the club is run and what goes on offer to come forward roles include Membership/Team managers (jumping and dressage) and newsletter. You must be computer literate and sociable that s all we ask! Membership renewals This is just a reminder that annual membership runs from 1 st November up until the 31 st October. So, from 1 st November 2018 onwards, you will need to have renewed your membership to participate in our instruction and events. Regrettably this year we are having to increase our membership fee to reflect our increased costs and outgoings and in line with what other local riding clubs charge, so for the 2018-2019 membership year the annual cost will be 28 for renewing members, and 30 for new members. Please take this into consideration when looking at the following events list for the remainder of the year! Sunday 28 October Dressage series (part 1) at Kilnhanger stables. The first of the dressage series will take part on Sunday 28th October at Kilnhanger. Tests are Intro C, Prelim 13 and Novice 27. Link here to MRL for entries and schedule https://www.equineaffairs.com/eventdetails.aspx?id=271102 Please note we still need to helpers on the day stewarding, writing, scoring etc Please contact Vikki if you can help we cannot run these events without you! 2

ABOUT WEST SURREY RIDING CLUB West Surrey Riding Club (affiliated to the British Riding Club) is a small friendly club based in Area 11 in the Surrey Hills conservation area between Guildford and Cranleigh. Our primary objective as a club is to help and encourage our members in all aspects of horsey life from the increasingly popular Trec to interactive lecture demonstrations, instruction and team competitions. The emphasis we try to maintain in the club is to make owning and training your horse as enjoyable and sociable as possible while still being informative and safe. We know that the majority of our riders are keen to improve their skills and do the very best for their horses, so all the events we organise are aimed to promote these things. All committee members details and other information visit www.westsurreyridingclub.co.uk 9
