W an Dance October 2018 newsletter OFFIE EWS an Dance office hours are Monday Wednesday 3-6pm for the month of October. Monthly fees: Please bring all your postdated checks and/or visa/master card information for the Sept June term. Remember we do not accept monthly debit payments without a visa/masterard on file and these must be paid before the month end, not after. Some months may have two weeks of classes other months have five weeks, we do a yearly fee and just split it up into ten payments to make it easier for the parent. ostume deposits are now due. Due to the high demand of costumes we will now be ordering them for October 15 th. ll costume deposits will need to be in at that time. This is $60 per dance. If you are in 5 dances you will need to bring in $300. If you pay by visa these will be charged October 15 th. Instructors: From time to time our instructors will be away for their professional work. We believe that bringing you working professionals in the industry will bring you the most current and relevant dance education. We try to keep these to a minimum and are dedicated to filling these spots with other instructors who are also professional working dance instructors. Thank you for understanding. Information: It is your responsibility to stay up to date on your child s classes and information. We email a newsletter each month as well as post it on Facebook at the can dance studio 2018 2019 page, on the an Dance website, and up at the studio. If you are not getting the email each month please check your junk mail and/or send a quick message to calicetto@shaw.ca to confirm your address. Facebook address is: an Dance 2018-2019 Instagram: candancestudiomission FUDRISIG Our goal is to help you make dance more affordable. Our first fundraiser is the Entertainment entre of bbotsford. These are opportunities for you to fundraise your child s costumes and competition fees for the year. Please check in with Sharla and Tasha on the can dance 2018-2019 Facebook page for upcoming events. Special thanks to these two parents (and all others who help) for putting together fundrasier s for this season.
lass ttire: Ok everyone we have given you all three weeks to get your proper dance clothes and we will now be asking you to wear only your dress code requirements to class (Hiphop is excluded). If you receive a notice home this week then part of their outfit is not correct. Please remember the guidelines when it comes to what you should wear to class: Ballet. Ballet pink tights (almost white), pink slippers and pink bodysuit and skirts for the younger dancers and black bodysuit for older dancers. Tap, jazz, lyrical, acro and contemp. Black bodysuit and shorts... 2.5 inch inseams or longer. Half tops/ sports bras are fine if you are fully covered and able to dance. ommitment: ll classes are now underway and the choreography, student shuffling, and any adjustments have been made. It is imperative you are now committed to the full year Sept June in the classes you have chosen (Recreational 3-6 year olds we understand changes may occur during the year) especially the competition classes where your competition fees have already been paid and costumes already ordered. You are now part of a team... just as a soccer team cannot play with too few players we as a team cannot choreograph, train and be our best if kids change or quit classes. You have taken a position another child may have been turned away for. The instructors may have created this team based on you being in it. Partner work may have been created with you in mind. We base our entire year on the fact you have registered for this class. Unless you are injured, move or have a serious reason for ending your class it will be implied that you are committed to the entire season. Please remember teaching commitment to a child through a sport or art such as dance will help your child in many aspects of their lives and in their future. Dance ompetitions: In the calendar below we have our three dance competitions listed. This year we will be trying three new competitions from the last few years. We believe that automatic gold metals are not teaching our kids anything so will be going to competitions where scores are determined by technique and stage presence. We also feel that by diversifying into other areas of the Fraser Valley this will bring different competition and be valuable to the dancer s steady growth rather than the comfort of their home stage. This year the competition will be harder but that is ok. I want the kids to work for their achievements. The only downfall to this is travelling a little out of Mission. We will be travelling to hilliwack, Langley, and Maple Ridge still all within our area. Please keep these dates free from any and all holidays, other events and other sport tournaments as these are 100% participation requirements for our competition students. Solos and duos are able to enter more competitions if they wish.
Dance ompetition Fees: Solos $210 Duo/trio $200 Groups $120 per dance style... example if you have a competition jazz and a competition tap class you will owe $240 These fees are due ovember 1 st Please bring them to me before this date. Year End Show: ll dancers from the recreational 2-year-old to the 20-year-old returning student will be in our year end production. Some new families might not understand that their child will be performing in our concert in June. Parking and construction: Thank you for your patience regarding the revitalization project downtown Mission. I hope that it has not inconvienence you too much. It should be completed soon and then we will be back to regular parking both on first and Railway ave. Student Teachers help: If you find your child may be behind due to missed classes, illness, or just struggling a little remembering the dances for a dance class we have several senior student teachers who would love to help your child. For just $15 for a full hour you could have a senior student one on one with your child in a time slot that works for both of you. all the office anytime throughout the year if you wish to schedule a one on one class. This is not a set time or cost just drop in when it works type class.
