Three soprano students; Allyson Byrd, Emyalyn Nicholson and Abby Berwanger, advanced to Pre-Area competition on November 8th in Jacksonville. The students will also perform at the Region 21 Choir Clinic and Concert in Carthage on Saturday, November 10th as part of the Region 21 High School All-Region Choir. Faustino Lara earned 2nd chair trumpet in the ATSSB Region 21 All-Region Jazz Band. Faustino advanced to Area and will compete for a chance at the All-State Jazz Band in November. PJHS Choir The Palestine Junior High Choir competed in the Region 21 Middle School All-Region Choir Contest. Mary Ellie Homann earned 20th chair for Soprano I. The following students earned Soprano II chair spots; Rachael Oldham (11th), Natalee Middleton (19th), Emma Morris (21st), and Alexis Collins (25th). Tenor chair spots were earned by Damian Dela- Cruz (4th), D Marcus Polk (7th), and Uriel Castillo (9th). 13th Consecutive District Title for PHS Boys Cross Country PHS Varsity Boys Cross Country won their 13th District Championship in a row at the District Meet in Fairfield on October 9th. The Wildcats earned a perfect score of 15 with PHS runners taking all places from 1st to 7th. Varsity runners are Michael Guzman, Luis Rangel, Daniel Sanchez, Alexis Mendoza, Michael Chaidez, Grant Attaway, and Garrett Bowden. The team will compete at Regionals on Monday, October 22nd, 1:00 pm at Sam Houston State University. JV Boys Cross Country also won a District title with a perfect score of 15. Palestine runners took all places from 1st to 10th place. Top JV runners are Jonathan Sanchez, Armando Gante, Raul Ramirez, Jose Sanchez, and Cristian Castillo. PHS Varsity Girls Cross Country finished in 3rd place as a team at the District Meet. The Ladycats were led by Izabel Simien, who finished in 11th place, followed by Iris Chavez, Jennifer Aguilar, Laura Cabrera, and Lauren Rocha. JV girls earned 2nd place led by Anahi Hernandez in 5th place, followed by Caitlyn Martinez, Lesley Chavez, Paula Rangel, and Jennifer Rodriguez. GO WILDCATS!
P a ge 2 Wildcat Weekly V olume 7: I ss u e 7 Go Wildcats Athletic Director: Robby Clark Palestine Athletics Tonight will be a great night under the Friday Night Lights as the Wildcats take on the Van Vandals! Kick-Off at 7:30 pm at Wildcat Stadium. First 500 fans will receive fan spirit towels!! Thank you Jeff Atkinson and Texas Farm Bureau for your generous contribution of the spirit towels. We will also be celebrating youth sports as they join the Wildcats when they enter the field! Tennis The Fall Tennis Team won in thrilling fashion 10-9 over Robinson in the area round of the playoffs on Wednesday, October 17th. The team will play Center on Monday, October 22nd in the regional quarterfinals in Henderson. Raheal Egbe was the hero on Wednesday, winning the decisive match in a third-set tiebreaker. The boys doubles team of Alex Shiller/Grant Shiller and Seth Sheeley/Gage Concilio both won in a third-set tiebreaker earlier in the match. Camryn Lupo and Monique Ybarra also won in doubles to give Palestine a 5-3 lead after the doubles portion of the match. Seth and Gage both won in boys singles and Monique and Camryn Lupo won in girls singles. Raheal's match was the last one on the courts with the teams tied 9-9. Raheal lost the first set, but battled back to win the second set to even the score. With everyone on both teams watching, she was tied 6-6 in the third set tiebreaker when she won three straight to take the lead and finished winning 10-7 to capture the playoff win for the Wildcats. Coach Scott Tyler Volleyball The Ladycat Volleyball Team traveled to Trinity tonight JV won in 2 (25-9, 25-22). Varsity won in 3 (25-9, 25-10, 25-15). Shayla Arthur, Ke'Ondra White and Ka'Zem Wood each had 5 kills. Ja'Bria Simmons added 4 kills. Katie Litynesky led the offense with 14 assists. Raina Hanzik, Savanna Harris and Ke'Ondra White each had 4 digs on the night. Gabby Moore and Katie Litynesky both had 3 aces from the serving line. Volleyball will be back in action against district opponent Rusk today at 4:30 pm. Coach Janae Evans Cross Country The Varsity Boys Cross Country Team won their 13th District Title in a row. Junior High Cross Country Teams finished a GREAT Season this week. Boys Cross Country finished as District Champions, and Girls Cross Country came in 3rd Place at the District meet and had a great season! Mr. Escobedo took one for the Cross Country team and kept his promise of letting the team shave his head if they won the district meet.

There were over 1,000 students in attendance. Students from Mrs. Carnell s class enjoying the new equipment on the playground. Special thanks to the PISD Maintenance Department for putting on the finishing touches at the beginning of the year. Third grade LAUNCH students engaged in a candy corn tower STEM challenge with Mrs. Marino and Mrs. Foote.

Over 30 men secured a date to serve as WatchDOG this year. Mrs. Schoppe s Coding Class is hard at work. Every Northside classroom got to choose a pumpkin to decorate.

They use cardio machines, journal, problem-solve and have one on one time with instructor to set goals. Library time is very important on our campus. We like to grow our own vegetables. Students are preparing for the upcoming 4-H project show. Students are hard at work on their individual projects.

Despite the rain, parents and students came to hear about our new partnership. Preston Strudivant provided 4H club information to parents and discussed the upcoming 4H Project Show. Students had the opportunity to share their ideas during the meeting. Students talked about bug displays, animal care, using recycled items and more..it s going to be great!

This week students started the 4-H Cooking class with Ms. Lacy. Their first dish was homemade pizza! Students come early in the morning for TACE and work fervently on their math assignments with Ms. Reagan. Library time is very important on our campus. Students in morning TACE were hard at work on math with Ms. Reagan. Students receive a healthy snack when they attend TACE in order to help them continue to focus on their studies.
