Equestrian Life: 2016 Rules and Regulations Competitors placed 1st-4th in any ridden, in-hand or working hunter class are eligible to qualify. Competitors of the Equestrian Life Championship do not need to be affiliated or be members of any Society, but must be true Amateurs who do not make a full-time living from producing, training or competing. This means they can own a livery yard and have horses in on DIY, part or full livery so long as these horses are NOT being produced by them for the show ring at any time. A competitor is NOT eligible if they ride for or on behalf of a friend, colleague or associate for financial gain. Combinations that have either qualified or competed at HOYS or RIHS in 2016 or 2015 are not eligible to enter, this includes Home-Produced classes. This does NOT include SFAS classes. Entry is for all qualified competitors with a valid 2016 Registration. SLRC SHOW RULES LIABILITY - Whilst every care will be taken, the organisers, or any person acting on their behalf, are not responsible for any accident, injury, damage, illness of horse, or any loss to horses, riders, owners, spectators or any person s property or vehicles whatsoever. HEALTH AND SAFETY - please take notice of the signs at the show. The organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring, and must obey the instructions of the organisers, officials and stewards. Everyone mounted, whether a competitor or not, MUST wear protective headgear containing a permanently fitted non-detachable retaining harness, secured to the shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the harness properly fitted and adjusted. Failure to do so will incur elimination. It is recommended that all riders wear the PAS015:1998, ASTM F1163 and BSEN14572:2005 hat, or EN1384 (minimum standard) hat, or SE1, American Standard SNELL E2001, SNZ3838 1998, ASTM95 or risk not being insured under the Riding Club s insurance Excessive use of whips and spurs will not be tolerated, neither will abusive language nor behaviour. Anyone found to be in breach of this rule will be asked to leave the arena and all entries forfeited. All ridden horses/ponies must be at least four years old. Stallions to be handled by persons over 14yrs old. The Judges decision is final. Anyone wishing to lodge a complaint with the secretary should do so in writing within 15 minutes of the incident, with a 20 deposit (refunded if complaint upheld). The organisers take no responsibility for competitors missing classes for whatever reason. It is the competitor s responsibility to space class entries accordingly if competing in more than one class and/or on more than one mount. The organisers take no responsibility for the payment of veterinary fees required on the showground. PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF AND YOUR HORSE/PONY/DOG USING BAGS AND BINS PROVIDED, AND LEAVE ALL AREAS AS YOU FOUND THEM. DOGS, IF ALLOWED ON THE SHOWGROUND, ARE TO BE KEPT ON A LEAD AT ALL TIMES.
