RUN DROUGHT ENDS: Tampa had not scored in 25-consecutive innings until Austin Aune hit an RBI single with two outs in the 9th inning of the 2-1 loss vs. St. Lucie on Wednesday night. Francisco Diaz scored the run, making the Yankees the first team in the Florida State League to score 300 runs. MAGIC NUMBER: The Tampa Yankees are on the verge of clinching a Florida State League playoff spot for the first time since 2010. Currently, Tampa holds a 2.5 game lead over the Clearwater Threshers with 4 games remaining in the first half. The magic number (wins + Clearwater losses to clinch first place) is 2. A win tonight in Lakeland coupled with a loss by Clearwater (vs. Dunedin) would clinch the 1st-Half North Title for Tampa. VS. LAKELAND: Tonight will be the ninth of 20 games scheduled between the Tampa Yankees and Lakeland Flying Tigers. Tampa currently leads the season-series, 6-2. In games played at Historic Henley Field, Tampa is 4-1. Jake Skole is hitting.379 (11-for-29) with 2HR, 9RBI and 5R in seven games against the Flying Tigers this season. ROAD WARRIORS: The Yankees were not fazed by 12-consecutive road games (5/20-6/1), going 9-3 on the journey away from George M. Steinbrenner Field. Tampa owns the best road-game record in the Florida State League at 22-10. ROSTER MOVES: On Tuesday, a pair of Tampa Yankee All-Stars were promoted to Double-A Trenton. 3B Miguel Andujar moves up after hitting.283 with 10 HR and a league-best 41 RBI in 58 games with Tampa. RHP Chance Adams remained undefeated in 12 starts with the T-Yanks, going 5-0 with a 2.65 ERA and the highest K/9IP ratio in the league (73K in 57.2IP). Joining the Yankees in Tampa are a pair of top-performers from the Low-A Charleston RiverDogs. RHP Domingo Acevedo made eight starts with the RiverDogs, going 3-1 with a 1.90 ERA. 1B Connor Spencer hit.253 with 5 HR and 19 RBI in 45 games with Charleston. ALL STAR QUARTET: On Friday, the Florida State League announced three Tampa Yankees will represent the North Division in the 2016 FSL All- Star Game on Saturday, June 18th at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers. 3B Miguel Andujar earns his second straight FSL All Star selection after being voted in last season and winning the home run derby. SS Jorge Mateo highlights the list as the Yankees No. 1 prospect. OF Mark Payton is recognized as an FSL All-Star after hitting.309 in 24 games before his promotion to Trenton on 5/18. On Monday, the FSL announced the addition of RHP Chance Adams, who will take part in his first All-Star game. NEW POSITION: On 5/17, No. 1 prospect Jorge Mateo started at second base for the first time in his career. Prior to that, the 20-year-old had only played games as the shortstop (208 games) or as the designated hitter (35 games). HURRY UP! This season, MiLB has implemented Pace of Game Regulations for the Florida State League. All FSL ballparks are now required to have one timer in the outfield and two timers behind home plate between the dugouts. The new regulations include a 2:25 minute count down between half-innings, a 15-second pitch timer, a 30-second mound visit timer and several other miscellaneous Pace of Game procedures.
