1 GAME NOTES LISTEN LIVE: threshersbaseball.com Clearwater vs Tampa Wednesday, May 4, 2016 Game No. 27 Starting Pitchers: RHP Vicente Campos (3-1) vs LHP Matt Imhof (2-1) Shark Bytes THRESHERS RALLY LATE, FALL IN 10 INNINGS: Zach Green's lead-off homer kicked off a three-run rally in the bottom of the ninth, but Abiatal Avelino's tenth-inning homer was the difference as the Clearwater Threshers fell 6-5 in ten innings to the Tampa Yankees on Tuesday night. Clearwater (17-9) trailed the Yankees 5-2 entering the bottom of the ninth, when Green yanked a 1-2 pitch down the left field line for his fourth home run of the season, bringing Clearwater to within two. A Gabriel Lino single, a key error on first baseman Billy Fleming, and a wild pitch allowed the Threshers to tie the game. Thomas Eshelman allowed four runs - three earned - on a season-high eight hits in 5.2 innings, taking the no-decision. Eshelman has a 2.35 ERA, but the Threshers are just 1-4 in his starts. Tuesday night was the first game this year in which the Threshers scored five or more runs and lost. GOING GREEN: Zach Green turned in a 2-for-5 night on Tuesday, with a home run and two runs scored. Green is now tied for fifth in the league with 18 RBI, giving the Threshers three players in the top five in run production. Green s four home runs put him in a tie for sixth in the FSL. The 22- year-old was limited to just 26 games last year due to a wrist injury. NEW-LOOK OUTFIELD: With Herlis Rodriguez going on the DL on Tuesday and Carlos Tocci day-to-day, the Threshers outfield had a different look last night. Drew Stankieiwicz made his first career appearance in the outfield, as he had the start in left, while Samuel Hiciano got the call-up from Lakewood and started in right field. Hiciano broke a string of 14 conseucitve Threshers retired by Tampa pitcher Brody Koerner when he struck a double down the third base line in the eighth inning, and finished 1-for-3 with a walk in his High- A debut. HEAD-TO-HEAD: Clearwater and Tampa will meet for the third of 18 times this season, including 10 meetings in the month of May.
