The President s Message from Marianne Summer time is a great time to travel and explore the wonderful, wide world of square dance. Each state and most countries have festivals and conventions just past or coming up. Many of our local dancers enjoyed The National Square Dance Convention in Little Rock. Arkansas. It is also the season to promote our great activity. Summer festivals, church carnivals, County Fairs and so much more If you have a connection to get square from your club to do a demonstration, let us know. Recently, members of River & Advance To Go Ralph and Judy Peterson donated one of their store fronts to be used for a 2 day demo to recruit for classes during the 2014 Westfest in Cheviot. Lots of people came in and danced and are eager to get into class or return to dancing. Summer Dangle Dances are continuing. When you wish upon a star is the theme this year. Each club is making their dances fun and exciting during these hot days of summer. A new theme is voted on at the July Federation Meeting so clubs have time to include a date for the next year when planning in the fall. July 19, 2014 We will celebrate our newest Honor Couple: Lou & Bonnie Armstrong. Each year we need to encourage more clubs to select and honor individuals in their clubs who contribute to keeping our activity and their club alive. August 30, 2014 Friends and Family are invited to join our Annual Ronald McDonald Square Dance Benefit. The main hall will be for continuous dancing for nondancers. This is a great way to introduce co-workers, church members, social groups and more to our wonderful activity and encourage them to join a beginner class this fall. Challenge to all clubs Have a Friends and Family night in August or early September on one of your club nights. This is a good opportunity for Clubs to bring in nondancers to encourage them towards classes. September 6, 2014 The 3 rd Annual Queen City Express: Saturday Square Dance Special. This is an all day event dancing around the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area. We use our current dance halls to get the public familiar with the fact we dance in their communities. We are always looking for dance leadership in planning other venues around town. Of Course: SEPTEMBER is NATIONAL SQUARE DANCE MONTH. Remember Federation meetings are the 3 rd Sunday at 2:00pm January, March, May, July, September, and November. We need 4 reps per club help recruit. We are considering only Quarterly Meetings let us know what you think! Happy Dancing, Marianne C. Jackson -- Email: sqmarianna@aol.com 4
