Hopefully we are headed for warmer temperatures and not jumping into summer. As I write this newsletter today, we were rewarded with 70º temps. First Friday, April 3rd Wow! Attendance was awesome!! It was such a fun evening of catching up with members we had not seen in a while. Those attending were Lois Bailey, Linda Woodruff, Debbie Peacock, Greg Walker, Barbara Geraghty, Carla Klein, Sue Schettini, Deirdre Campbell, Stacy Ware, George Emmons, Lynn Wham and Jane Price. Welcome to Stacy, our newest member who is looking forward to our golf outings. It was nice catch up with Carla and Sue. Also seeing Lynn, and hearing about Barbara s stay at The Villages. Several of us tried a new appetizer Shrimp Ceviche. Consensus it was a wonderful light choice when paired with a salad and will be on their spring menu. Members participating were Barbara Geraghty, Bill Geils, Cyndy Hofer, Richard LoPresti, Terri Rotella, Ed O Connell, Debbie Peacock, Michael Kellis, Andrea Anthony and Greg Walker. The photographer (aka me) hit balls at the driving range. My hits were not a good thing, so it was just as well I didn t golf with the group. Following a long round of golf, (6 hours), we dined at Zody s at Sterling Farms with plenty of conversation. (Executive Director, Paul Grillo, said there were at least 2 groups holding up pace of play that they spoke to with limited results.) Bill Geils is one of our newest members and is getting back to his golf game. When you see him, please welcome him warmly as I know you will do. First Friday May 1 Zody s at Sterling Farms If you are joining us for dinner this Friday, arrive early and bring your clubs for a little practice at the driving range. You can also hit balls after dinner as the range now has lights. Nine and Dine Our first Nine and Dine of the season will be held at Fairchild Wheeler on Sunday, May 3. We will be alternating between the black and red courses every Sunday when there isn t an 18-hole event scheduled. It s a great opportunity for practice and for those members who prefer to play 9 holes. We ll follow up the fun with dinner at Vazzy s. Thanks to Linda Woodruff for organizing. Saturday, May 30 The Griff Our next 18-hole event will be at The Griffith Harris Golf Course in Greenwich on Saturday, May 30 with our first tee time at 1:00 pm followed by dinner at the course. This is a wonderful opportunity for our Westchester members and friends to join us at a new course and for regular members to experience what The Griff has to offer. Thanks to Andrea Anthony for organizing. June Events The first event is a 9-hole event at The Griff, during the week, on Thursday, June 18 starting at 5:00 pm. If you re retired, can play hooky or skip out of the office early, it s a great chance for a quick round on one of the longest days of the year. Followed by dinner at the course. If you aren t available to join us for golf, come for dinner about 6:30 pm. The second event is a joint event with the Hartford chapter at Whitney Farms. The event is on Saturday, June 20 at 11:00 am followed by dinner after. The course always provides a fun time and is convenient to get there. Thanks to Linda Woodruff for connecting with Hartford to make this a special event. Please check the website for details as the final details are still in progress. July Event Wednesday, July 15 is an opportunity to play Smith Richardson with a start time of 10:30 am. Prices for the 18-hole round are the best and very reasonable. Check the website for the rates.
