The Wearside Classic Rally 9 th September 2018 Durham AC are pleased to return to the Nissan factory in Sunderland for the 8 th running of the Wearside Classic (formally Durham Dales Classic). The event will retain the successful formula of the last seven years using one of the car parks and the test track, with the Sports and Social Club being the centre for the day, where refreshments will be available all day. Note spectators will not be permitted at the test track, and as there will be no road mileage tax and insurance is not required, the plan is to run 18 tests. SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS 01. Announcement: Durham Automobile Club Ltd will promote a Clubman Historic Road Rally and a Clubman Targa Rally on Sunday 9 th September 2018. The event will be entirely at Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK, (Sunderland), Washington Road, Sunderland. SR5 3NS. Grid Ref: 88/339588 Historic Road Rally Permit No 108309 Targa Road Rally Permit No - 108310 02. Jurisdiction: Held under the General Regulations of the Motor Sports Association, (incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting code of the FIA), and these supplementary regulations, together with any other written instructions that the organising club may issue for the event. 03. Eligibility: Competitors The event is open to all fully elected members of Durham Automobile Club competition licences are not required. All entrants must produce a valid Club Membership Card for inspection when signing on. 04. Vehicles: a) All vehicles will be scrutineered for eligibility, noise and safety, location given in the final instructions. b) The vehicle registration document should be available. The actual vehicle presented at scrutineering must be the vehicle described on the registration document. c) Competitors are reminded of the need to comply with either R.18 or R.19 of the MSA Technical Regulations. d) All vehicles must be in a condition which would allow them to be driven on a public highway. e) Any historic vehicle which does not comply with the MSA Historic Vehicle Regulations or any vehicle registered after 31.12.85 must enter class 5, 6 or 7. f) Application will be made to the MSA to accept Historic Rally entries for cars registered between 1.1.68 and 31.12.85 with more than four cylinders, more than one camshaft and more than two carburettor chokes. Competitors must supply this information on their entry form.. 05. Programme: Entry list opens on publication of these Regulations. Entry list closes at 00.00hrs on Wednesday 29 th August 2018 Scrutineering opens at 08.00hrs on Sunday 9 th September 2018 First car leaves at 10.00hrs on Sunday 9 th September 2018 Awards presented ASAP after the final test 06. Route: The route is contained within NMUK Ltd Nissan Sunderland. The tests will be based at the Sports and Social Club and at the test track. Spectators are welcome at the Sports and Social Club, but will not be allowed access to the test track. The link roads remain private land. 07. Tests: There will be a number of tests on private land. Competitors will not be permitted to walk the test. The whole test may not be visible from the start line. Competitors should start as soon as directed by the marshal. All tests will finish with a stop astride line.

08. Classes: Wearside Classic Rally Class 1 Cars Manufactured before 01.01.68 Class 2 Cars manufactured between 01.01.68 and 31.12.74 Class 3 Cars manufactured between 01.01.75 and 31.12.81 Class 4 Cars manufactured between 01.01.82 and 31.12.85 Wearside Targa Rally Class 5 Cars manufactured after 01.01.86 Front Wheel Drive Class 6 Cars manufactured after 01.01.86 Rear Wheel Drive Class 7 Novices, where the Driver has previously competed on less than 5 Rallies with Special Tests. If there are less than three entries in any one class, the organisers reserve the right to amalgamate classes as appropriate. The minimum entry for the event is 20, and the maximum is 50. If the minimum number is not reached by the closing date the organisers reserve the right to the event to cancel the event. 09. Awards: 1 st Overall Wearside Classic Rally 1 st Overall Wearside Targa Rally 1 st in class subject to a minimum of three in the class. More awards may be announced in the final instructions. 10. Entries: Entries open on the publication of these regulations. All entries must be made on the Official Entry Form accompanied by the appropriate fee. The entry fee for the event is includes; lunch and an evening meal for both crew members. Additional meal tickets can be purchased in advance. If both crew members are already members of Durham AC the entry fee is 90.00 If one crew member requires Durham AC membership the entry fee is 102.00 If both crew members require Durham AC membership the entry fee is 105.00 Payment is by cheque or BACS All cheques must be made out to Durham Automobile Club Limited. Results: Provisional results will be issued as soon as possible after the finish of the event. Any protest must be lodged in accordance with the MSA Blue Book. 13. Route Instructions: All crews will be issued with Time Cards and Test Diagrams when they sign on. 14. Identification: Cars will be identified by Numbers provided by the organisers, which must be fixed to the rear side windows of the car. 15. Timing and Penalties: The onus in obtaining the correct time lies entirely with the competitor. In the event of a query, the time on the timecard will be used. In the event of a tie it will be decided by fastest on the first test, then second test etc till resolved. The tests only will decide a tie. Penalties will be as per section M table M7. 15.1) Not completing a timed test Test maximum 15.2) Not performing a timed test correctly, other than in 15.5 Test maximum 15.3) Making a jump start on a timed test 10 seconds per second 15.4) For every second taken to complete a timed test 1 second Any competitor completing a test in less than the target Time will be credited with Target Time 15.5) Striking a cone or failing to stop astride a finish line 10 seconds per offence 15.6) Failing to stop astride a line mid test 30 seconds per offence The wrong test penalty will be applied as follows: If you make a mistake on a test and pass the wrong side of a cone, or the wrong way round a cone, you can retrace your steps and this will not be counted as a wrong test. Once you have passed two consecutive cones incorrectly you will automatically incur the penalty for not completing the test correctly. 16. Competitors under the age of 18: Any competitor under the age of 18 must: a) Have their entry form countersigned by a parent or guardian. b) Have a parent or Guardian complete the Parental consent Form attached with these SR s. AND c) Have someone with them at signing on to countersign the signing on sheet, or alternatively have someone with them who is authorised in writing by their parent or guardian to sign on their behalf. PLEASE NOTE: If there is no Parental or Guardian consent in accordance with the above, then those under 18 years of age cannot be permitted to take part in the event. 17. Data Protection Act: Competitors are advised that information supplied on the entry form will be held on a computer and used for the administration of the event. Details may also be passed on to other event organisers for the purpose of the circulation of event regulations. If you do not want your details circulated, please indicate this on the entry form.
